heading out to the great race place today, so not much time to post.
r1: keezar. sirreffs' numbers with firsters have been heading the wrong way the last year or so, but he can still get them to win early. a little disappointing that this moss color-bearer is debuting for a tag with that great breeding, but will take a chance with this one first out of the box with espinoza. i'm hoping he shows some speed in here b/c it's very hard to make up ground on this track of late.
r3: victor slew. puhich is better than his stats suggest, and i think victor will show speed in here first off the bench. he's drawn outside and that will help quite a bit.\
r4: shadow of illinois. there's quite a bit of speed signed up, so i'm not sure what kind of trip 'illinois can get in here drawn to the inside. i hop the other speed takes back just a bit and allows 'shadow to run away early. fj's pace looks like he's lost a step or two, so perhaps 'shadow can shake loose and roll home.
r6: our fling. stein has been mired in obscurity of late, but has done well in years past with these new zeland imports. f.ing was dead on the board in her North American debut- showed speed and faded down the lane. she drops a notch and should go better in here at a nice price.
r8: puerto banus/entry. i've been waiting for blue steller to uncork a huge run at a big price in one of these graded stakes, but i'm hoping today is not the day for him. the last few years, there hasn't been anyone who has dominated these long turf stakes in the male division here and at hollywood since kotashaan more than ten years ago. they just take turns beating each other. i like the way puerto banus is coming into this one off the six month layoff. he's been training well with a series of long drills and he should be ready to fire today. fairly ransom and sweet return have been beating up on three year olds only and get a big class test today.
