I am a little concerned about what teams will and what teams wont play college football this season and how that will affect the playoffs. For the record, I made a homer bet on my Gators at 15 to 1. They have a favorable schedule and enough good players returning where missing Spring ball may not hurt them as much as other teams. Love our coach. I am afraid to put big money up because of the uncertainty.

Every year I would dabble in futures like winning Big10, total season wins, etc. NOT THIS YEAR!

First of all how will it work? Say your team is 9-0 and game ten gets cancelled because the opposing team has too many players test positive for the virus? Will there be a refund? Is the game forfeited and the team goes to 10-0??
If a team goes 9-0 and three games were cancelled due to virus and there are four 12-0, 11-1 teams, who gets to playoffs?
If I bet Ohio State to win Big Ten and Justin Fields tests positive and cannot play month of November....or many an entire offensive line.
What if a team only announces their players out of play due to virus minutes before kickoff? I can see Harbaugh doing that.

Guess the first question should be; Will players be tested weekly? Will positive tests mean no-playing? How long? How many players can test positive before games are cancelled? What if majority of coaching staff test positive? WOW!
TOO MANY IFs.
And as far as standard handicapping, may have to throw that out the window! Some teams will be ready at start of season, some will be lost. Some early "lost" teams will quickly recover, some not. Teams with new coaching staffs and new schemes look to be ripe for fading early.

I will go week to week and may not be making my bets until just before game time. Treading lightly this year.

^Too many ifs is right.

Before Thursday, there weren't any reported cases of SEC football players testing
positive for COVID-19. That's not the case any more as five Alabama players have
tested positive since Thursday.

This is going to be one crazy wagering season.

The five positive tests are actually a good thing. In fact it appears it would benefit teams to expose their teams to the virus now, as long as no damage is done.
Korean studies have shown those with the anti-body and then test positive again have only dead virus and are not infectious.

So, it appears those with anti-bodies are clear to play entire season.
Handicappers will need a list of players with anti-bodies to determine risk factor of any given team.

Wonder if players will try and get the virus now?????

Interesting!

What if you pick a PAC 12 team to win the championship and the PAC 12 doesn't have a season? Should you lose your money for thinking a PAC 12 could win the championship?

I would think the NCAA should set the rules for this season concerning the COVID. Hopefully not each individual conference with different rules.
Each school should decide whether to play or not, after that there should be one rule to govern for the COVID.
After that takes place, the bookmakers can then set betting rules for futures with regards to the COVID rules established.
That's what I hope for!
Only after that would I wager on futures.

Where in the rules does it allow for a book to cancel future bets if certain teams dont play? I am going to take a close look.

Each Book have their own set of rules. Most have if all scheduled games not played a refund is given for team totals, would imagine same for championships.

In 2018 I put some cash on Nebraska to not win......believe it was 6 games?? They cancel first game vs Akron due to weather. Thought I was screwed with book holding on to my money until season's end. Neb. quickly scheduled Bethune-Cookman during a bye week end of October. The book, WilliamHill, honored the bet even though they played a different team.
Legit Books do not want bad publicity, they usually give you the benefit of a doubt. Had Neb. not scheduled that game and won 5 games I probably would have only received a refund at seasons end.
This virus issue, IMO, opens up a can of uncertainty. Not sure yet how it will be handled???

100% agree! mind u i like to have some action just to make watching interesting so maybe $5 bets. LOL
Like u said there is just too much uncertainty, and accounting for NO home field advantage is a biggie!
