Ran into a casual friend who is a table games supervisor yesterday. He says they got letters telling them it will be at least March before they are called back. They were laid off last March.

Boyd Gaming tells the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation that it will permanently lay off 168 employees at the California and 116 staff at Main Street Station beginning on November 13.

Most of the layoffs involve casino floor staff, but Main Street Station is eliminating positions such as the manager brew master and manager at Triple 7 Restaurant & Brewery. At the Cal, a banquet chef, 13 bussers, five cocktail servers, nine cooks, 12 food servers, and a bartender and two bar backs are among the staff permanently losing their jobs.
The Cal reopened on June 4 while Main Street Station did not reopen in Downtown Las Vegas. In July, Boyd Gaming laid off 25 percent of its staff nationwide.

Tropicana begins laying off 828 employees; layoffs coming at 2 Paris restaurants

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Tropicana Las Vegas has given notice to 828 employees that they are being laid off beginning Thursday, Oct. 15.
And layoffs at two Paris Las Vegas restaurants are coming soon as notices have been filed with the state. Mon Ami Gabi intends to lay off 96 employees, and the Eiffel Tower Restaurant will lay off 53 employees. Both moves are scheduled to happen on Dec. 16, and the layoffs will be permanent. The restaurants are not permanently closing.
A letter to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation states the Tropicana, which had already notified the state of 661 layoffs, is adding another 167 layoffs to that number.

“These layoffs at Tropicana Las Vegas, Inc. are the unfortunate result of COVID-19 related business circumstances that were sudden, dramatic and beyond our control. The impact on our business was not reasonably foreseeable until now.”
Tropicana Las Vegas letter to DETR
The letter, written by Mike Thoma, assistant general manager, also says the layoffs are permanent but the facility will remain open.
“These significant drags on our business will likely continue for the foreseeable future.”

Encore cutting back to being open only Thurs to Monday. The Tropicana never should have opened in the first place. On the other hand, CET (Caesar's) properties announced they are going to start charging for parking again (exceptions for locals and (at least Platinum).

I was at Cosmo today and it was surprisingly empty as they have been somewhat crowded during other visits even on a Wed.

I'm surprised the Palms still hasnt opened. Heard they might close for a year. This wouldn't happen if the Maloofs still owned it. That place was great back in the day

It will be interesting to see how Circa does, they open in a couple of weeks. Certainly not the best time to open.

The Tropicana layoffs already have been posted, but an additional 132 Trop employees will be laid off in December.

    https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2020/...19/6047718002/

LAS VEGAS – Mass layoffs are continuing on The Strip as COVID-19 travel fallout keeps tourists and their money away from this gambling and entertainment destination.More than 1,110 workers at Tropicana and two live entertainment venues at Park MGM and MGM Grand are losing their jobs, according to notices sent to Nevada employment officials.
While Park Theater and MGM Grand Garden Arena are tied to MGM Resorts properties, the layoffs impact employees of Aramark – a third-party vendor that operates at those locations.
Here are the cuts at each location:

    • Tropicana: 828
    • Park Theater: 180
    • MGM Grand Garden Arena: 164

An additional 132 Tropicana workers will lose their jobs in December, according to a second letter sent to Nevada officials.

Devastating business closures and travel fallout in the wake of COVID-19 have led to layoffs for hundreds of thousands of workers in this gambling and entertainment mecca.

Moronic governor, who is recovering from Covid, is on TV today to announce new restrictions. Who knows what this idiot will do. They caught him on video dining out without masks in a place where there were singers. Kind of like Newsome in CA as the rules don't apply to the people who tell the rest of us what to do.

Having exhausted its cash reserves, Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise will be laying off 1,110 employees on Friday.

During a Tuesday meeting with members of the Navajo Nation Council, Brian Parrish, interim director for Navajo Gaming, said the gaming board passed a resolution that same morning to lay off over a 1,000 employees. Of these, 773 are Navajo workers and 172 are non-Navajo employees.

Some 165 employees will continue to work, but they will see a 20 percent pay reduction. There have been 97 resignations.
