There is a Connecticut state trooper that makes $350,000 annually with overtime, and he's only a Sargeant !

Pretty cake job for 20-25 years then a pension and then a security guard type of job

Even better is going into the Army, Navy, etc at 18, do 20 or so t years there, get your immediate pension, then 5 bonus points on your civil service exam, and 20 years at USPS, two pensions at about 60, almost ready for social security then you can still work at a store clerk inor something.

Cop is a cake job in a place like Westbrook, CT, it's like Mayberry, nothing ever happens here !

I have a lot of law enforcement officers has clients, at both state and local levels, low six figures with OT is common, $ 350,000 I've never seen

What they have better than anyone are retirement benefits. Usually based on last two or highest two years, so by working OT before they retire they can have pensions that are equal to or greater than their base salary.

They can also retire after 20 (or 25) years, start collecting their pension AND take another job in another town or something

Don't forget the $250 cash they get for sitting in a HOA meeting for an hour, or the not needed directing of traffic when the church up the street lets out, or even better, the free apartment they get for being a "courtesy officer" for an apartment complex, and of course, there's way more examples than these...

Being a cop is a horrible job, especially today. They have to come in close contact with more scum on a weekly basis than most of us interact with on a yearly basis. I believe the majority of cops are well worth the hundred grand.

My Uncle is an airline pilot for southwest and makes 400k. So i suppose it's all relative.

Says being a pilot couldn't be easier you're simply there to land and take off or the 1 in 10,000 chance something actually goes wrong during air travel that the computer cant handle and needs your attention.

It's a job where you MIGHT GET KILLED during the normal course of business,
depending upon the crime rates in your patrol area.

Not realistic to assume ALL cops just sit around drinking coffee and issuing
traffic tickets. Some work in urban hellholes that hate cops, or patrol highways
and confront smugglers of drugs, humans, etc.

Ask almost ANY cop what their most dangerous call is....he'll tell you it's a
Domestic Violence complaint. And that's one that almost ALL cops get to
answer, repeatedly.

No, it's not always a cakewalk. Just depends WHERE you work, usually.

They (cops) are much safer then coal miners, roofers, loggers, fishermen, refuse and recyclable material collectors etc....

Certain cops are underpaid...most overpaid. Big city cops earn their money and have to jumpthrough hoops for OT.

Of course not. But THAT'S because we aren't asking them to confront criminals
and apprehend them. Or tackle some mental patient.

Granted these examples are pretty RARE except for a very small group of cops, but
even on a delivery guy's WORST day, he doesn't put up with what cops often do. Or
ever have to attain credentials that cops do...

Oh yeah, the cop thing usually requires a law enforcement license/degree, clean
record (misdemeanors OK) and fulfilling the physical requirements.

In most places, police and schools are the biggest waste of money. Liberals love to steal as much as they can from the citizens by raising taxes to create their big government dreams.

In the Las Vegas valley, there is about $1 billion spent on policing for a population of 2.2 million . That's an average of $450 per person per year. But kids aren't paying anything, broke Liberals aren't paying anything, so it's more like several thousand for each actual tax payer.

I understand there are some drawbacks to being a cop, they may be subjected to violence and sometimes they don't get to go home because of it. The trade off is the government gives them permission to perpetrate violence against citizens with virtually zero accountability.
