Took a day off from NY yesterday, but couldn't ignore today's card. A couple of very talented champions running today - should be fun to watch.
Race 1 - #8 Charlotte Webley (7-5) You all know I almost never post chalk, but this filly checks ALL the boxes for me. Can't see her losing unless she gets struck by lightning in the starting gate.
Race 2 - #7 North Dakota (6-1) Spent the Spring in Tampa but has been steadily training at Belmont since mid-May. A lot of works - seems well-meant off the short layoff.
Race 3 - #1 Frank's Rockette (3-5) How can you pick anything else here? She's head and shoulders the best of this bunch. Expecting her to make a lot of money in Saratoga later this Summer.
Race 4 - #3 Red Storm Risen (7-2) That turf debut gives the look of bigger and better things to come. Will have a say. (Also like the #2, Great Camanoe - won't get 20-1, but anything double digits is worth a couple of bucks).
Race 5 - #7 Fortin Hill (5-2) Undefeated with Irad on his back. No excuses.
Race 6 - #3 Amazing Ride (15-1) Was running a nice race last out until trouble found her at the top of the stretch. Clean trip and a repeat effort is all she needs.
Race 7 - #8 Danfusi (4-1) Who better than Rosario to have in the irons for the CLEAR speed of this race. Son of FuPeg will have every chance.
Race 8 - #2 Valid Point (7-2) Great race - can't wait to watch this one. I see the #2 having the perfect pace and holding off Irad and the #9 at the wire.
Race 9 - (Met Mile) #4 Hog Creek Hustle (30-1) His only race at Belmont? He won the Gr. I Woody Stephens at 19-1. Worth a gamble that lightning can strike twice, right?
Race 10 - #8 Spooky Channel (15-1) Complete lack of speed in this race so I'm going to ignore the stone, cold closers. This guy can be effective midpack or close to front. Love the fact he made his way here from Phoenix by way of Canterbury, and that last run at CD was really impressive.
Race 11 - #4 Mr Buff (2-1) Drops 9 pounds off the last race. Wire to wire for the finale.
