United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to "keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18." More than 18,000 of the 35,000 UTLA members responded to an informal poll and 83% agreed with the UTLA board of directors

_____________________________

they demand:

1) private schools that get public funder must get shut down immediately
2) end the LAPD and use the money for education, housing, and public health
3) the passing of a Federal Medicare-for-All program
4) "federal bailout" of their school districts
5) increase in CA state taxes especially among the wealthy

Their paper ended with a section titled, “In Conclusion: Normal Wasn’t Working For Us Before. We Can’t Go Back.”

We have to crush this turd rebellion

How many retards have we nurtured?

To be honest RT, I'm more inclined to believe this is satire than real

oh it's real...in fact San Diego county just voted to join their LA Union brothers and sisters in this list of demands with Orange County voting on it tonight.

I didn't give you the full list of their "Common Good and Community Support Demands" which includes

- an extra FIFTEEN sick days/year
- no penalty for schools that don't meet attendance minimums or standardized test scores
- suspend all mortgage and rent payments while forgiving debt for families with students
- no evictions of residents or turning off their utilities for non-payment
- FREE broadband internet and devices (PC's, tables, etc) for families with students
- provide housing and healthcare for any homeless student
- eliminate all insurance copays and premiums related to WuFlu testing and treatment
- weekly "disaster stipend" for parents with students to quit job to be home with kids with no loss in wages
- moratorium on any future
- financial support of undocumented families

You’re risking your own life and freedom by living in cities dominated by liberals. This is not a joke. They’re allowing the criminals free reign, while attacking the police and prosecuting those who dare defend themselves. “

I don’t believe the teachers are demanding these things - and they’re saying they won’t show up for work if the demands are not met?

no, they will still teach remotely but will not go back to a physical campus until these demands are met

In 1981 Ronald Reagan gave a TEXTBOOK example of how to deal with crap like this.

PATCO (the air traffic controllers' union) went out on an ILLEGAL strike. Reagan ordered
'em back to work. They refused.

He FIRED THEM ALL just as he said he would. Very, very few of 'em ever got their jobs
back, usually in arbitration after proving they'd fail to comply for some medical reason, etc.

Trump will do the same thing if necessary....but it won't be. These unionized teacher
pussies KNOW they have cushy, soft jobs with summers off. They are BLUFFING, period.

EDIT: The above opinion assumes that Trump declares some kind of emergency to intervene
in a CA problem, of course. Otherwise it's a California problem and God knows HOW they'll
handle it....

they walked out on strike in Jan 2019 for the first time in 30 years so are feeling emboldened. last year's strike netted them additional teachers and schools, a reduction in class size, school district power to deny new charter schools, and a 6% across-the-board raise. So they got a lot more money to individually teach a lot less students and now they're feeding their SJW egos. Last year they struck a big blow to the growing trend of non-union charter schools and want the death blow because charter schools routinely outperform their public school "opponent" especially in heavy black and latino areas.

LA Times put out an article that 15k LA school kids failed to attend one online class and 1/3 of all LA high schoolers (40k kids) skipped their check-ins required with homework assignments. Most kids can't handle a purely online curriculum and lifestyle so the union will use children as pawns for more power. It's always about power....

Well my wife is a teacher at the local elementary school. She and her other colleagues say if the brick and mortar schools are not allowed they need to just cancel the fall semester. Online classes at that age is pointless. I think they are right.

Lets face it boys and girls California is past the point of no return unless
there is federal intervention. And you know what, you get what you deserve.

The only problem I see is the same people who caused the problem to begin with
are getting fed up and leaving the State and taking their fuck up values with them.
