Just reported, no Philly player or coach tested positive after their initial COVID test since playing the Marlins.

It is a good initial result, but who knows.

And 4 more Marlins tested positive bringing the total number of individuals to 17. As of yesterday is was 11 players and 2 coaches. Not sure of the breakdown of the 4 new cases today.

My question is why did the marlins wait til monday morning to leave philly when they had a game at 7pm that night not much time in between flight from philly to miami and get ready for the game . When there game sunday was over around 430pm and then they test postive monday morning for covid 19 something suspicious there and it involved a florida team hmmm

1st off PHL wouldn't let them leave. QT rules

2nd They didn't test positive Mon morning they, Marlins received a few earlier test results 90 mins prior to the game.

3rd They then drove the rest of the tests to Rutgers U trying to expedite results which still took till 2am. It was just reported locally that a VISITING clubhouse employee tested pos. which is how they suspect it originated.

Shit happens, especially now!

As Twisted said in so many words, it's a mess. They had to stay.

The Nationals have voted NOT to travel to Miami this friday to play the marlins.

Why cant the marlins play at baltimore now and at washington this week and either:

1) make the marlins the home team or
2) flip flop home dates

With no fans in the stands, who really cares about location?

There will be some scheduling issues for sure, and there isn't much leeway built into the schedule in the first place.

However, I actually think this is a good thing for the long term success of the league during COVID. The lesson is that multiple positives on a team need to be taken seriously, or no more MLB.

The issue that could rear its head is teams like the Nationals that refuse to play teams with outbreaks. If you get a few breakouts of COVID and then a few teams that refuse, this thing is over.
