Friday, a majority of a three-judge panel of the notoriously liberal 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned California’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines on Second Amendment grounds.
Writing for the majority, Appellate Judge Kenneth Lee wrote that “[E]ven well-intentioned laws must pass constitutional muster.” Lee also argued that the state’s ban on magazines holding more than ten rounds “strikes at the core of the Second Amendment — the right to armed self-defense.”
