had a single guy out to rip out carpet and install some lvp. He did a good job, invoiced the job and I paid it off in cash. I got to thinking is this something I should have tipped on? cost of the two bedrooms for haul off, install, and quarter round install was a little over $600

You hired a contractor to rip out carpet? Depending on the size of the room, it would've taken you about an hour and saved you $200 to do it yourself. Literally anyone can rip out carpet.

Depends. I usually don't tip for work done on my house, but I have. Recently had some flooring replaced. Workers did an awesome job so I tipped them all $100 on the last day. I say only tip for exceptional work/service with this type of stuff.

No but I've worked with a few who I'd like much of the money I paid them returned.
