This would be the year to try a 8 or 16 team playoff with all these Bowl games being canceled. Here is how the opening round games would look if a 16 team playoff started today:

(16) Wisconsin Badgers @ (1) Alabama Crimson Tide
(15) Oklahoma State Cowboys @ (2) Notre Dame Fighting Irish
(14) Northwestern Wildcats @ (3) Clemson Tigers
(13) BYU Cougars @ (4) Ohio State Buckeyes
(12) Indiana Hoosiers @ (5) Texas A&M Aggies
(11) Oklahoma Sooners @ (6) Florida Gators
(10) Miami Hurricanes @ (7) Cincinnati Bearcats
(9) Iowa State Cyclones @ (8) Georgia Bulldogs

I mean when are they going to figure this thing out? Have the Round of 16 played at schools home fields and then from Quarter-Finals (or Semi-Finals) on use Bowl Games like they've been doing. 4 teams is never enough. Someone will again get screwed and schools like Cincinnati should have a fair shot.

Would love to see this.

I think top 8 would be fine
9-16 have almost 0 shot and you want to limit games I think

Very true but 16 would allow flexibility and there would zero argument for teams that deserved to be in. I still think the top seeds for the most part would advance but could be an upset or two. Anyways based on that here is how TOP 8 would look and I'm not gonna like I'd love to see it:

(8) Georgia Bulldogs @ (1) Alabama Crimson Tide
(7) Cincinnati Bearcats @ (2) Notre Dame Fighting Irish
(6) Florida Gators @ (3) Clemson Tigers
(5) Texas A&M Aggies @ (4) Ohio State Buckeyes

Any upset in this group or TOP 4 move on easily?

6 vs 3 and 2 vs 7 are definitely interesting enough to make it worth while
Gators are good

The only problem with 16 teams is that it's hard to guarantee the big bowls a great match up New Year's weekend

Eight would be perfect, four games in the first round all with a lot of interest

Four teams is not enough, blatantly unfair, guarantees results, specifically manipulates the money

alabama defense has looked good the last few games but i think clemson top to bottom is still the best with a healthy lawrence and etienne
