Made some decent money with NIO today and have more I am holding onto, hopefully can sell for more profit next week. That was all playing the volume/spike pricing.....anyone have thoughts on this long term? All hype or the real deal?

Seems like a solid company. I was in NKLA, made some money...bought more and it tanked. I held on, it made a comeback and I got out just over even. These non-Tesla EV companies scare me. I think some of them will pay off, but it's a crap shoot. Glad you made some money though.

yeah feels like a crap shoot and lord knows I have lost money on those over the span of my life. Not looking to do the same here. That said, the remainder I do have, I am holding on until at least next week at this point. I don't like swaying away from stuff I know, but sometimes do, like in this case.

I made a huge profit in NIO and even recommended it here in some thread in this forum when it was in the $5 range.

However, the bad news is when it started soaring, I started selling out of the money covered calls on with what seemed very generous premiums moving out a number

of months.

Alas most of the stock I bought was called away from me meaning I would have made even more than I did had I not sold the calls.

But hey who would have ever thought that this stock would go from a few dollars into the 60's where it is going to open today in just a few months?

Best of luck who those who have also profited from it and/or who are still holding.

Bought some NIO on the dip yesterday when it dropped to $61. Hoping that this turns into the next Tesla. Or at least 1/4 of it. I'd be happy with that. Future orders and replaceable battery look promising for future income.

have a webinar tonight on EV, looking for to it; bunch of traders talking EV stocks . Wont be an active participant as im pretty much a chartist, lol . I'll share any good info, if any. After Nov 6th, some sectors had some serious fuel : emerging markets , cannabis, green energy, 3 obvious ones. They all popped, got even better in early Jan when the Senate , stunningly, went Blue (leave it to the nutter Trump, lol) --they have played out incredibly. Now the question is ----Is the party over? dont think so. I believe retracements are places to add (for long term investors)or enter (trader or investor). Look at those 3 sectors charts, just fuckin' wow.

anyway, if anyone doesnt believe in the EV's crazy momemtum? well, GM and Ford are breaking to 52 weeks highs, why? they are in-- full throttle: EV. Some of these stock charts r nonsensical-- look at Ford's today, mimics a small cap pharma , lol. VW has pretty much gone all in

the tech just keeps improving seemingly at nutty speed, hard to keep track. NIO and TSLA will have cars that can go 500 miles on 1 charge!!! I believe Lucid Motors has one already, again tough to keep up as shit changes so fast, and actually NIO claims its new et7 has a 620 miles range !!

anyway for none stock pickers, etfs are available for the EV market,kinda safer instant diversification...but no homerun glory . Can use a portion of one's portfolio and buy and hold---have a look in 3-5 yrs.

some information ive come across;

EV sales projected to grow 20X!! from 2,000,000 to 40,000,000 by 2025 (seems an ambition projection, lol). and what's largely driving this is the dramatic decrease in costs for Lithium batteries. Soon enough the price tag for an EV car will match a regular/modest gas car-- good grief, only way ya buy the gas car is if u dont like money

NIO's new flagship eT7 sedan .....

not much to add,

some points (ddin vet this );
-Biden is expected to pump $5 billion, with a B, into charging stations. That $5 billion is a drop in the bucket when u consider USA pays $360 billion in interest payments on its debt yearly --i wuldnt hold my breadth for rates going up anytime soon, lol. BLNK has gone from just under $9 in early Nov 2020 to $44 .
- no EV on the road or in production r using hydrogen fuel cells. Forklift and bus prototypes r in the works , some questions regarding long term viability . It appears Li batteries have a monopoly. Lithium, rare earth metal stocks
- KARS, DRIV two etfs , can look under the hood at holdings

Wed Jan 27th after the close an EV BEAST reports; ICONIC TSLA. Musk is now Top 3 echelon of the richest men in the world-- has beaten his naysayers to a pulp, lol. However, what will the numbers look like and how will the market react-- this compnay's valuation is in outlier territory . Has been for awhile and she just keeps humming along, up 21% ytd. INSANE. Could get some volatilty in the sector on Thursday. For those unaware, TSLA was added to the SPY in Dec

the tech. just keeps a movin'.......

Electric car batteries with five-minute charging times produced

Exclusive: first factory production means recharging could soon be as fast as filling up petrol or diesel vehicles

Batteries capable of fully charging in five minutes have been produced in a factory for the first time, marking a significant step towards electric cars becoming as fast to charge as filling up petrol or diesel vehicles.
Electric vehicles are a vital part of action to tackle the climate crisis but running out of charge during a journey is a worry for drivers. The new lithium-ion batteries were developed by the Israeli company StoreDot and manufactured by Eve Energy in China on standard production lines.
StoreDot has already demonstrated its “extreme fast-charging” battery in phones, drones and scooters and the 1,000 batteries it has now produced are to showcase its technology to carmakers and other companies. Daimler, BP, Samsung and TDK have all invested in StoreDot, which has raised $130m to date and was named a Bloomberg New Energy Finance Pioneer in 2020.
The batteries can be fully charged in five minutes but this would require much higher-powered chargers than used today. Using available charging infrastructure, StoreDot is aiming to deliver 100 miles of charge to a car battery in five minutes in 2025.
“The number one barrier to the adoption of electric vehicles is no longer cost, it is range anxiety,” said Doron Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot. “You’re either afraid that you’re going to get stuck on the highway or you’re going to need to sit in a charging station for two hours. But if the experience of the driver is exactly like fuelling [a petrol car], this whole anxiety goes away.”

TSLA up another 4%, ...steam into Wed......goin' to be interesting, , has its legeon of bull and bear analysts

“In reality (hindsight & rationalization, never predicted), we believe tech/retail investors see (Tesla) as two separate tech companies,” one that is a market leader in electric vehicles and another offering driverless-car technology, solar-power stationary storage, battery and powertrain technologies and others.
Moreover, Tesla is “in the best position” to capitalize from any upside from climate initiatives from the new Biden administration and a “blue” Senate, the Evercore ISI analysts said.

hell of a chart, lol. The $55ih level is an important one; its backtesting a breakout area, and just filled a tiny gap. If it cant hold this level , 50sma is the next target, with near certainty , bouced beautifully off it in late dec ...an inside candle today, further consolidation..did not lose the previous days low...
