why? The best team won it all. You want more for the sake of gambling and entertainment but ultimately you can’t argue that the best team didn’t win. Inevitably the committee got it right because the only undefeated team won it all.
I think that there are reasons NOT to go to 8 teams, sure, but for the good of NCAA football an 8 team playoff needs to be implemented. I am not adament about it, do not say it is definitely the way to go and everybody opposing it is wrong, but it is, say, a 60%-40% decision for me.
Every year the #4 team, maybe even the #3 are debateable or even extremely debateable, this year not OSU but ND was very questionable, A&M, Oklahoma, & FLA would definitely be Vegas favorites over ND. Maybe GA too.
There would be tremendous interest in the playoffs and teams like Cincy would have a reason to play hard to get into the playoffs, every year that kind of team would be interested in getting in... IMO Cincy could hang with some of the playoff teams this year, but blown to smithereens by Bama. It is good for the sport to have a non power conference team get in sometimes. And Power 5 Champs should get top consideration, though the Pac 12 has not been worthy, lately.
AND that is 4 more teams that do not ruin their bowl games with jackoffs that sit out for the NFL.
Also, NO coaches should be allowed to sign with a new team and abandon their teams until after their last game, I know there are legal issues with doing that but the NCAA can make it a rule...
Sure, Bama was the best team (I had 'em!) but the way things are going 8 teams is better for all. (cut other bowls by 50% too)
