Probably could have just made one thread.
Wasn't planning on doing all these
Too late for that
This is the last

What sticks out

2018 Pats vs KC
Outgained Kc by 234 yards
176 yards rushing

2012 Balrimore over NE
121 yards rushing +3 TO margin

2005 Steelers over Broncos
+4 TO margin

2001 Pats over Steelers
+4 TO margin

2000 Baltimore over Raiders
+3 TO margin
Held them to 3 points

1999 Titans over Jags
177 yards rushing
Jags TO ball 6 times Titans +2

1994 SD over Pitt
Looking at the box score it is impossible to know how Pitt blew this game
I don't remember it but they had even turnovers a 10 point lead and almost double the yardage

1986 Broncos over Browns
156 yards rushing and +3 TO margin

1980 Oakland over SD
138 yards rushing and +3 TO margin

9 AFC games and 6 had a +3 TO margin or better. Only 2 had less than +2
5 Had 120 or more rushing yards

NFC
2018 Rams over Saints
Nothing too much sticks out except the bad call on the Saints
Probably should have won this game

2007 Giants
Giants 134 yards rushing
40 minutes of possession to 22

2003 Carolina over Eagles
Held them to 3 points
Rushed for 155 yards
+4 TO margin

2002 TB over Eagles
+2 TO margin

1998 Atlanta over Minny
Not too much sticks out here
Atlanta with 75 more passing yards than the explosive passing Vikings

1992 Dallas over 49ers
+4 TO margin

1990 Giants over 49ers
Giants 152 yards rushing
39 minutes of possession to 21

Interesting stuff
To me anyways
Big turnover margins in many of these games
Rushing or time of possession seems to be relatively important too

Just some stuff to consider

Good stuff Ex...IMO it solidifies how important TOs are. TOs overwhelmingly determine outcome of games...it changes field position, momentum, and generally leads to points. Trying not to lump into entire basket and say ALWAYS or 100% cuz there have been some exceptions but those are rare.

I think if you could predict who will have better starting avg field position, that also plays a part too...teams having to go further down field generally score LESS points.

Will we see Refs allow WRs and CBs play or will we see flags being thrown like crazy...seemed like less penalties last weekend. 12-10-10-6 were the total penalties called in last weekends games however look at what the final 4 teams #s were w/ Buff/KC/GB each less than DD (TB7-Buff2-KC7-GB3)

2019-20
KC over Tenn: KC out rushed Tenn and more TOs. But this was more about Tenn having zero answers in stopping KC offense scheme
SF over GB: SF clearly out rushed GB and at 1/2 it was 27-0...285-62 rushing yards, GB had to go to pass only but GB also lost TO count committing 3 fumbles, lost 1 and 2 picks to ZERO SF

Thx for posting...cuz it gets me looking even deeper

Interesting enough is that 12 of these 16 teams covered the SB
8-0 since 2000
Rams didn't cover but they played the Pats who also won as a dog

Last weekend's losing QBs:

  • Goff had recent surgery, still had pins in his thumb, California boy played in GB cold weather
  • Jackson run first option offense first against a run stacked D, he is not an NFL pocket passer, he threw a 10-14 turnaround pick 6 Bills win by 14
  • Mayfield, the best of the 4 here, still is not a full game, reliable QB
  • Brees, >40 yrs old, was dinged and / or old age has caught up with him, could not throw medim/deep or deep, resulted in turnovers... to boot, KEY situational QB Hill was out for the game

Interesting
But maybe Mahomes is just too good
Or is this TB defense tough enough and Brady clutch and smart enough that unlike SF who maybe should have beat KC....TB does
If they get more than they do not even have to win

Looking like 9-0 since 2000
I know I gave the Bucs zero shot once the playoffs started and I was wrong
But I was right once they made it to the SB they would cover and probably win
This defense is better than I though originally
