Not sure really why this is news? Expected IMO but I know others thought or hoped more serious than was...

Is 'Turf Toe' what they actually called that injury? athletes should expect to take a break from field sports for at least three weeks while the joint capsule heals. Athletes who return too soon or play through pain are often sidelined even longer in the future.

I think Mahomes will get treatment and such up till Super Bowl then the real healing and rest will occur in off-season.

I bought the Bills to +4 1/2 earlier in the week and feel good about it regardless of the health of Mahomes. You've got to think that he's not 100% healthy with the toe and head injury though. One hit and he's probably out.

Did anyone really think he wouldn't play

Exactly....very fishy they even put out line with him ?....should of been OTB until he was cleared....instead they open -1....very fishy....this line prob reaches 4 or so and KC wins by 1-2 not covering yet again, but I can for sure see Bills winning this game! KC has been playing with fire barely escaping all these close games. Gotta catch up at some point you would think

There was a reasonable chance he would not play, f-ing concussions are not predictable.

The thing is, with both a toe and head injury, will he be 100% effective? (If they lob out an "80%" number, pre game, watch out!)

They said Aaron Donald was fine, then I heard 80% at the last minute, and he was useless, Garrett for Cleveland was also ineffective. Dinged players try to play in the playoffs and often flop...

The toe is a huge issue, QBs balance when he throws is very important, a pain shot might work or might backfire.

If he was 100% healthy for sure, KC looks like a good wager, they are getting back a key WR & star RB, probably. But it will be unknown til Mahomes is out there, maybe it will be clear quicly, but probably it will take several series of downs or more before we are certain.

People who say it was a no brainer Mahomes was playing obviously don't understand basic concussion protocol. The medical community don't fully understand the brain and people come on here and post crazy statements about his playing status was a given and the line makers knew he was going to play.

Mahomes is cleared and that's a good starting point for him as a human being. As an athlete, once you suffer a concussion you are more prone for repeat brain trauma from dangerous hits to the head. Mahomes may still have lingering effects from that hit last week and might last a qtr. if he gets hit again. He may play the entire game and throw for 500 yards and 5 TDs. Point is, concussions are serious and lingering for, sometimes up to a year and medical doctors don't know much about the human brain. Was he cleared? Yes. But as I see it, like all of us, he is day to day.

Mahomes probably will be ok, and IMO the toe might be the bigger problem (just mess him up a bit, not completely visible to the naked eye all the time). Remember Alex Smith (who has always been solid) said he was ok and played like a 60 year old the night Washington eeked out a win against a Philly team that was tanking? Ouch.

Beware of these guys playing hurt for the playoffs... (see: Donald, Garrett, Goff, maybe Brees, et al)
