True pick em fight. Both fighters are at their ceiling, though, especially Zhuma. Albazi is young, so he may crack the Top 10, or chase the Top 5, but he’s not Championship material by any means...

Dana wanted that Khabib vs McGregor rematch so bad lol

Yep, and it was never warranted to begin with anyways! lol

McNugget will never beat anyone of substance ever again. They'll have to give him a winnable fight, so I look forward to seeing what 6 guys they come up with...Haha

On that note, that's all we heard all week, Connor wants to fight 7 times in the next year or so, followed by Dana saying he could retire if he wants to because he has money...lol More like he should retire because he's not making a title run unless they come up with some BS fights. He'll come up with some BS he's not feeling it anymore or wants to concentrate on his family if he does take a hiatus or loses, again...

I'll give Conor a little credit, though, his demeanor in and outside of the octagon were actually presentable this time around, but I think he knew, he wasn't winning, and he's not nearly as good as he used to think he is...

Last night was also a reminder to anyone who thinks leg kicks aren't effective, haha, the average person can't even take one, insert Conor to take a couple and be done...

Interesting how leg kicks have basically changed the sport to neutralize effective but kinda 1 dimensional strikers in a pretty short period of time. Volk w/ Max, Poirier w/ McGregor, even Cejudo huge part of his gameplan vs Cruz was basically just be patient and kick the shit out of him. It has really nullified the guys that want to counter.

I wonder if someone can come along and implement that vs Izzy to make him have to press action more. Taller task than those other guys but interesting nonetheless.

Not a fan of the style really but that is why MMA is so fascinating because of the ways it evolves over the years.

Izzy is not one dimensional

But leg kicks also work on Jones
But more so being aggressive. Obviously you can't run at someone though. But aggressive
Too long and throws multiple things at you. Tough to just counter
Same thing with Izzy
In Costas mind he had the right plan He just might not have had the skill to do it

Leg kicks are great but like anything else just because you see success does not mean it is that simple
Lots of people get checked and that shit hurts
Also, they have to be set up for the most part
Don't want a counter straight down the pipe or over the top
And of course takedowns

Cruz is great when he can fight defensively
The two fights he was more offensive he got worked
Largely why the leg kick worked
Cejudo had no fear of a takedown or any striking out of Cruz
Maybe just that he can't fight the new upper tier guys and win defensively and knows it
Has no choice but to be more offensive and they are just better

Max is kind of one dimensional but both fights were close. Maybe even won the 2nd
Love his improvements over past fights where he throws some more kicks and elbows/forearms
He doesn't throw power with his hands but throws elbows/forearms give him the extra power needed

Conor has many weak points

He is a power guy
Oddly enough doesn't throw many hooks though
Also lke many MMA guys doen't work the body as much with his hands

That means he is often heavy on his legs which is good for takedowns and leg kicks
Questionable cardio
Doesn't tend to throw many combinations relies on that 1-2
No offensive grappling

Maybe it was just me but did Conor look bigger and have more muscle than usual?
He just looked odd out there

Conor did look bigger, and he also looked as he always has to me, nothing special...

Conor can't offensive grapple, because like I said years ago here, he's average at best. He could walk into my local gym and get destroyed by any legit jitz guy or wrestler in a grappling only contest. He knows it, I know it, and if you're not a McNugget nut hugger, you know it...

As for the leg kicks, they're nothing new, either, and learning how to check them isn't either, but it must be to Conor. If those would've been checked a little differently, it would've been a littile different, but oh well, he was gonna lose anyways, and he will continue to do so. Well, they'll probably give him Diaz again, surely he can win that fight, as long as he doesn't run outta gas anyways...

The game is simple now really, you better know and understand Muay Thai, leg kicks and elbows are brutal, have your ass in wrestling too, and secure a great takedown defense game, and then submission grappling/jiu jitsu. If all you know how to do is box, or even kickbox, you won't last long in this here game anymore, you better be able to kick, and more importantly, wrestle...

As for Jon Jones, I agree, his demise will be if someone can get ahold of those toothpick legs, or outwrestle him with pure power and weight...

With that said, I'm expecting a lot of bet the farm type wagers being posted from Anotherday, if the balls are there to back up the trapper...

Smart fighting by THE DIAMOND!!! I can't believe how great the odds were on Dustin, sprinkled a little on him to win.

Never been a Conor fan, but like you said, give him a little credit w/ his demeanor in/outside the right, and gave props to where they were due, and admitted his faults. A different side of Conor.

Glad that cocky S.O.B. got handled by the humble DIAMOND!!!
