Draft Kings Acquires VSIN and Caeasrs Fully Acquires William Hill

Some interesting things going on out there. Brian Musberger and original investors of VSIN strike the gold with Draft Kings acquiring them.

Appears a lot aren't interested in this marriage but they can't do anything about it but cancel their VSIN sub.

Caesars which owned 20% of William Hill completed the purchase of the remaining 80% of William Hill...………

In other Caesars news, it's not 100% confirmed or a done deal but pretty close based on CEO comments that Caesars will no longer offer buffets. I guess they finally figured out losing 3 million per buffet location a year wasn't a prudent business model.

It's no longer the Vegas you once knew, where they took a loss on food and bev to get it all back and then some on gaming revs.

Now they want your whole bankroll and will get it through your stomach if they can.

Two bits of very bad news....Draft Kings will turn VSIN into a marketing company with the only objective being to promote the brand. Wm Hill eliminates more competition...there used to be you could shop the lines...forget it now plus their customer service is lousy.

I agree and with Sports Grid aligned with Fan Duel, it was only a matter of time before DK did something.

DK wants to be the biggest thing out there and is going to spend every penny they have in doing so. Investors be damned. Thing is at least to me, VSIN while nice isn't the be all end all. A lot of the talk on there isn't even about sports. They really go off subject at time and I don't care about someone's wife or what they ate at some local restaurant. That's just me, but times are swiftly changing.

New York fumbling the ball on a betting bill it appears. Georgia is totally out of the mix for this year as their legislation period has closed and then you have Arizona who let a typo basically shut down progress they had made. But hey Wyoming will be legal soon!

What a shame this is not good for bettors as VSIN has sold themselves and their credibility to the devil. NY fucks up royally as they don't get the online betting for this year when the state could have reaped the rewards from added and needed revenue. Instead, NJ will continue to clean up huge as they will keep their NYC customers across the river.

I've been a subscriber to the VSIN weekly report since inception and find that to be useful information. The few times I have listened in, I agree with the thoughts above re: the primary focus being on personalities rather than on sports. That is the downfall of the Sunday NFL pregame shows too other than ESPN Fantasy.

The people on twitter screeching about VSIN's "credibility" are hilarious.
VSIN was already in bed with casinos before this sale and they had no credibility. I listen to a few of their shows and the idea that you will be a "sophisticated handicapper" as a subscriber is preposterous. Their handicappers give you insights such as "USC's size will give Gonzaga problems" as they line up to take USC in a game that was over at the first media timeout. (Note they are talking about Baylor the same way).

I listen to FTM and hearing those guys go from slobbering all over the Circa app to now raving about the DK app overnight is pretty damn funny. They're just money whores.

assume almost all casinos will scrap the buffet concept. post-WuFlu nobody wants to eat a bunch of food lying around that dozens of other people are touching and coughing on....

the VSIN football newsletter is pretty decent but their talk shows are worthless

So let me get this straight. The Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars which charged $55 for dinner and $65 on the weekends and had massive lines was losing money. And all of those visitors who went out of their way to go to Caesars Palace to eat there never spent a dime in their casino on gaming or shopping. CEO Tom Reeg is totally full of shit. Does he really think those same people will patronize his overpriced restaurants and go through the hassle of standing in line and make reservations to eat there. The line and wait to get in the Bacchanal Buffet was so long that it was hardly worth it unless you had a 7 Stars card and were allowed to cut the line. Still hundreds lined up waiting to eat there. The Station Casinos built their business on buffets. Once you get people in the door their money will find it's way to a slot machine or gaming table. These pencil pushers have totally underestimated what drew people to Las Vegas. The visitor from the Midwest is not going to pay $20 for a sandwich and $17 for breakfast when they just left their town where they can eat breakfast for $10 at IHOP. They keyword on going to Las Vegas for a vacation is bargain. Oh sure, Caesars will get their international tourists again who are used to paying outrageous prices for meals in Toyko but the middle class from Southern California will not put up with being gouged. After this initial of influx of visitors going to Las Vegas for relief from COVID fatigue will see if the same attraction is still there when you can go to a casino in almost every state and online gaming is spreading in leaps and bounds.

I've had a VSIN subscription on/off for the past 2 years and hardly use it due to time and other priorities. I like their email recaps and the newsletters are OK. The only show I watch from time to time and it's a good watch/listen is FTM, very good sports betting chatter. As for their opinions on picks I take it with a grain of salt. Been around sports betting since my teens and have much experience to get hoodwinked or influenced by others.

Its funny. My wife and kids watch FTM with me in the mornings. My wife doesnt care about sports and my kids like the dog videos
