The TB Rays announce the promotion to ML of baseball's Number One ranked MiL player (since beginning of 2019) Wander Franco who will join the team tomorrow and for Tuesday's home series with Boston

The 20 year old switch-hitting Franco's MiL output to date has surpassed that of his deservingly high touted peers Juan Soto, R Acuña and even Vlad Guerrero

In 213 games he has 95 Xbh and a .938 OPS....but in highest level AAA 38 games he has 24 Xbh and a .977 OPS

He hits above avg from both sides but notably has 17 Xbh in 102 TripleA AB vs RHP (1.079 OPS)

Franco became the fourth man to be named Baseball America's top prospect two years running, joining Bryce Harper, Joe Mauer and Andruw Jones

He is the fifth SS to be named BA's number one prospect, joining Corey Seager, Jurickson Profar, Alex Rodriguez and Chipper Jones

Since FanGraphs began tracking minor league stats in 2006, there have only been 3 hitters to post a 150 wRC+ or better while also striking out less than 12% of the time. Career minors:

    Franco
    .332/.398/.536, 7.9 K%

    Vlad Jr.
    .331/.414/.531, 11.0 K%

    Betts
    .316/.408/.472, 10.4 K%

I have never heard of this guy until yesterday but I’m hearing this guy is a stud.

rays always do a good job of getting stud young talent on the cheap

In honor of Wander Franco’s debut tomorrow here are some insane stats:

⚾️ Had the same amount of 4-hit games (5) as he did games with multiple K’s (5)
    ⚾️ Never K’d 3x in a game
    ⚾️ More multi-hit games (80) than career K’s (75)
⚾️2nd player ever with an 80-hit tool (Vlad Jr.)

    BOOm

Well, it only took two plate appearances before Franco showed everyone what the hype is about. After the Rays put a pair of men on to bring him up as the tying run in the fifth, Franco delivered with a 95.5 mph, 362-foot homer to left. Franco came back out for a well-deserved curtain call for the crowd

The #Rays Wander Franco has now reached base in 23 straight games, the longest streak by a player that young since Ken Griffey Jr reached in 25 straight in 1990.

    25

Only men to ever exceed this number at this young an age:

Al Kaline, Frank Robinson and Mickey Mantle (twice)

    thanks Jack O'

WANDER Franco on base streak now at 32

He has struck out TWICE in past 72 PA

That of.course is so ridiculous that we are compelled to note it as equiv to coming to the plate 660 times in one season and only fanning 18 times

Wander Franco wRC+ in 2nd half so far? 144
That ties him with Jose Ramirez, Avisail Garcia, and Matt Olson, while putting him ahead of Giancarlo Stanton, Kris Bryant, Freddie Freeman and Willy Adames who all sit at 142 wRC+.
"Not bad" for a 20 yr old....

Ray’s/Dodgers World Series again lol. Like when the Buffalo Bills won their third straight AFC championship game and a guy in the crowd had a sign “Deal with it America”.

Takes a day off, first PA back singles in a run, advances to second on fly ball to *right* field and scores on next single

    34 games on base
