Why do teams go for 2 when they score down 14 points??? (This happened in the Ga Tech/Virginia game)
I have seen this a lot lately and I know they say you have a better chance to win the game but it just doesn't make sense to me.
Why wouldn't you kick the extra point to cut it to 7 and if you are lucky enough to score at the end of the game.......then make the decision to go for two to win the game instead of going for two earlier and then having to go for two down 8 points just to try to tie the game. Again, I know it deals with analytics but to me it increases your chances of losing by going for 2 earlier in the game. If the goal is to win the game, why wouldn't you wait until you could actually win the game???
IMO if you are going to go for two in that situation you should just go for 2 every time you score.
I guess I am more old school when it comes to playing all sports......Baseball is almost unwatchable for me these days because of analytics. Teams are spending a lot of money on Managers when really all they want is a computer model to tell them what to do.
