Super Mario lets down his buddy Sick Gambler tonight.

Mario you bastard, how could you do this to me? Your late goal cost me 2.55 units. I was happy with the split. You ruined my night.

Folks, I just want you to know that Mario and I are not buddies, and we NEVER grew up together, but we played in the same ball hockey league in Montreal from 80-82, and he knows me very well. We are the same age. He ALWAYS was the best player in the league. I faced him about 8 times in my life. We even used to play his team in Ville Emard (his home in MTL) after school playing in their school yard, as me and my friends would take the bus and play them. We hated these guys so much. They were a bunch of loud mouth Quebecois, and we always got into brawls with them. They were so dirty, as they'd always slash at our shins. But there was one guy who NEVER fought with anyone and ALWAYS broke up all the fights. He never took sides and was a real gentleman, and his name was Mario Lemieux. But once one of my teammates cross checked Mario into the net in a pile up in front of the net as there was lots of traffic. Well, we all felt bad for Mario, cause we thought he was a weakling, which is why he never fought. Well guess what folks, Mario dropped his gloves, and beat the living crap out of our toughest fighter (the guy that cross checked him) Since that day, we all respected Mario, and NO one went near him again. At that time, Mario was still 6'4 and was only 15, and only weighed 140 lbs. But if his team beat us 10-8 (we played up to 10) Mario would end up with 4 goals 5 assists every game. And there were 11 players on each team. We all knew that this guy would be a star one day. Boy was he talented. He never hustled, or ran back to backcheck. Always a floater, but what hands on this guy. We could NEVER get the ball off him. He would make us look silly by putting it through our legs all the time. He once scored on a 1 on 4, I kid you not folks. And our defencemen were no slouches either. 1 of them went on and got drafted by the Islanders in the 5th round, and the other by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 3rd round, but never made the NHL. It was great. One day I was playing with him, then 4 months later, I see him on tv playing Junior hockey and scoring 100 goals a year breaking all sorts of records. I just knew it and was very happy for this great guy. What a nice guy he was.

My whole point of this folks is not only is Mario a great player, but a great guy. And I am proud to say that I know him and played with him before in school yards. But what a classy guy this guy is. A legend on, and off the ice/schoolyard. I've had many people I know make the NHL being from Montreal and playing all my childhood in ball hockey leagues, but I only really had one pal that played regularly in the NHL, and that is Sergio Momesso, who mostly played for Vancouver.

But back to Mario, tonight I hate his ass for costing me 2.55 units. Thanks Mario, and when I see you this summer in Ville Emard at your folks house playing in the driveway hockey with your nephews and neighbors like you always do, I will be sure to mention it to you.
