I don't know much about betting hockey, so hopefully someone can explain this to me. Why is the total for the grand salami always higher than the total for all individual games added together? I believe the GS O/U for today is 55.5-56.5 while the added total for individual games is just 54 or so?

Because the OV has been covering like a champ. That new rule NHL has helped the OV too. AD

The juice is added to the total so if there are a bunch of 5.5 over -120 and -130 then you add decimals to the total amount of goals which makes the Grand Salami higher.

One more question.....Doesn't it seem like there is edge betting under on grand salami if there are a lot of games on the day because the average for individual O/U's for a game is about 5.5? It is much more common to see games end up 1-0 or 2-0 than having teams put up 8 to 10 goals a game?

Hi Seeems like first week players were taking dumb penalties and power play defense was ugly. Seems as if defense has gotton better and players a little smarter about taking penalties. Under has won the last few nights and any edge percieved by us about the penalty and scoring situation has been picked up by the bookies so I think we are now back to a normal handicapping situation. First week had no 6 point games now there are at least two a night.
It is sort of like the first weeks of football a team is better but it is hard to percieve and handcapping chances are available but as the season wears on the pros catch up quickly. Just an opinion.
