Thierry Henry's induction into the magicians guild this afternoon with a solo goal and a piece of sheer brilliance in creating the second for Ljungberg.

It was our 5th wedding anniversary yesterday where I bought my wife a wallpaper scraper which she is now putting to good effect in the bathroom while I watch the footie with a beer.

As a footnote, I should add my appreciation for the England rugby team who have beaten the bloody Aussies in what is the only sport on the planet that has any importance.

And the bonus ball for this lucky boy is the France v Jonah Lomu game tonight.

Nice to see another believer in the forum!

Rugby (Union) is the greatest game on earth because no matter who you are or whatever level you play at, there's a place in some team for you. Just as important, there's always a place in the bar, too!

Lots of great stories: like the one where they made Martin Johnson captain of the Lions team that toured South Africa a few years ago. They said that when Johnson went to the home teams dressing room, as is traditional for the visiting skipper, he filled the whole door opening when they opened up to him and the Lions went on the field with an immediate psychological advantage.

Just seen him on TV now. Another with no cartilage in his right ear. All great forwards are so! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

great sport, as tough to play as anything (too tough for me- I stopped playing when I left school and kept to cricket and soccer at college) but the drinking is truly legendary!
I'm already pencilling in a Christmas party or two with some old rugby mates.

Really think England are going the right way now and have got over a kind of inferiority complex when playing the Aussies, NZ and S.Africa.

after getting a red card from the mods, for your repeated harassment of my posting persona, you dont post shit for a month or so and you decide to post a rejoicing post on some crap post of yours accidentaly coming up with the recent threads page of what is now a 2 page forum, after most our other threads, contest, picks, capping discussions etc. have gone done the drain so far?

You are one sick dude man.

Wow,this one's an old post. Got caught out here, started scurrying around a few books to see the odds on France v NZ to no avail, then read Jack's post and the penny dropped.
Rugby, racing and beer, that's the culture down here. Jonah Lomu I don't think will ever make it back into the All Black side, doctors can't cure his liver complaint just suppress it.

I feel privileged to have seen Jonah at his absolute best when he destroyed what we considered to be one of the world's classiest wingers in Tony Underwood.
Sadly, Jonah has ambled around the field only a shadow of his former self since the onset of his illness.
Pity really,we just learned how to tackle the bugger and he leaves the stage.
Never mind, the scene is set for England to show the world how to play rugby!

(if I'm totally honest, Clyde, I see the Southern Hemisphere not letting us have it all our own way and no doubt the big occassion will suit the Aussies perfectly)
As a small curiosity, we had both John Schuster and Mike Umaga at Halifax when they turned to league. I know John was an All Black but did Umaga, the elder, play for the Samoans?

Best get off the line before the Balkan wood gatherer shows her irritation and calls for a moderator.

Peter, not sure if Mike Umaga played for Samoa.
As for the World Cup I would like to see a team from each hemisphere in the final...how about England v NZ...let's shut the Aussies out of this thing.

I'm almost certain that while Tana plays for the All Blacks, Mike Umaga played for the Western Samoans.
He who made the tackle in the 1995 world cup on Springbok van der Westhuizen (sp) where he stood his ground when the South African charged at full speed into his midriff. The guy didn't move an inch and van der Loser fell like a sack of soggy cement.

That tackle went all around the globe and Halifax signed him on.

Couple of nice screen savers here:

"don't get around much anymore...."
However, I've been dropping in to check out JackDee and Chriscol's Euro 2004 thoughts, playing the exchanges either as a result of, or despite their advices and generally keeping a low profile.

The Sharapova girl is currently showing the Williams woman the way to the silverware and at 5 in odds I think she's been bloody good value this afternoon.

Nice to hear you're still round.
Bookiebusters is where I'm at. You'll recognise the style if not the moniker....

Funny how choosing maria's name for me posting persona should bring such seredepity doo-dah these past two weeks.originally
smitten with jelena but could plainly see
she would become more focused with eating
cheese ball than hitting tennis balls.

Have you joined the poker wave?? it's
a bit tedious, but some definite ducats
to be made there

"Have you joined the poker wave??"

I've always looked with horror at those devil's paste boards games of chance.
I once lost a whole weeks wages as a 16 year old and never played since.

The game is far more manageable when your own knowledge is decisive and the turn of a card is not an element.

However, if you find cards to your liking I can only wish you luck and if you require a partner at the tables I'd be more than happy to hold your wallet.

pete-- poker requires some skills;one of which
entails the intuitive ability to sit down
in games where a number of people lack said
skills. In a sense it is similar to sports
betting;in the short-term there is a high
luck factor, but in the long run expertise
and ability are revealed. If you have lack
of ability then one does lots of running
in place.
there is no need to lose all one's
stash finding out.You can play on
www.pokerstars.com for mere pennies.
they have what are known as micro-limit
games.probably a starting bankroll of $20 U.S.
will suffice.
if your looking for a good starting point
try www.twoplustwo.com for some good info
boards,and try www.posev.com for a very
informative strategy tutorial for hold em/
