Family of girl hit by drunk driver beat his sorry ass all the way to the hospital

ONTARIO, CALIF. -- Police say the relatives of a nine-year-old girl hit by an alleged drunk driver took justice into their own hands.

The girl was gathering leaves in the front yard of her family's Ontario home when a van jumped the curb and plowed into her.

Witnesses say her relatives, who were getting ready to go to church, attacked the driver and smashed his head through the window of a parked car.

They then dragged the man into their home, prompting a neighbor to call authorities.

The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. The girl was also rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed surgery to reattach her nearly severed foot.

Police have booked the man on suspicion of felony drunken driving

I believe that drunk drivers should be treated very harshly. I believe that the first offense should have a penalty of jail time.

Here's the problem with beating up a drunk driver.

There are diseases that make a person look drunk when he's really sick. There are also medications that do not have warnings but could affect a small number of people. So ..., what if the guy isn't drunk. And what if he's sick and you kill him when you beat him up. Do all the amateurs that hit people know when they're hitting too hard or too often so that they don't kill him (or her)? So what do we do with someone who hit a sick person that wasn't drink and killed him. How much jail time for murder?

You've got a court justice system in this country. We all know it's not perfect. But it's still the best thing around for keeping peace.

I agree to trust the law to enforce penalties for drinking and driving. Nevertheless, a drunk driver who hits a boy, girl, man, woman, or even an elder citizen rightfully deserves to be beaten up by the victim's family. You never know if the drunk driver has sufficient funds to acquire the services of a high price lawyer to get them out of big trouble.

Also, even if someone is under medication then I believe that the fault lies with the driver. If a person is using a medication then they shouldn't be driving thusfar they are under the influence and are held accountable for their actions.

Alex, do you really think that when you take a medication you know all exactly how that medication will affect you, with all the possible side affects. If you do, then you can be my doctor. You can take a medication that is not supposed to make anyone sleepy and it can make you drowsy. It this happens to you, do you think you're completely responsible. We tried to stop vigilante justice in the 1800's. We still have people that feel that it's not necessary to try someone. Let's just go out and lynch him because a few of us think that he is guilty. Thankfully education has taught a large number of people that there is some intelligence in the laws of the land and the way in which they are administered. Sure there are some unfair decisions, but should we junk the whole system because of them. Do you understand the concept of innocent until proven guilty? It doesn't mean sometimes; it means always for everyone. They used to hang people in the deep south because a couple of good old boys decided that the person they rousted was gulty. I really hope that most people don't have your attitude.

I don't know how the Criminal Justice system works in Canada, but in the United States, especially in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, the criminal gets the justice, while the victim gets the shaft!
I, personally, am sick and tired of hearing all of the silly excuses that the criminals and their attorneys come up with - such as that old "medication" standbye; a vehicle can be a deadly weapon, and, in clear weather, on dry roads, there is NO excuse for "accidently" driving into the front yard of a home and maiming the child playing there.
"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" - I say cut the guys foot off!

AlwaysWins, what I am referring to is accountability. What makes me upset is that nowadays people never take responsibility for their actions. They always have a reason for their excuses where you see many horrible real life examples of individuals using a temporary plea of insanity as a defense or using other means of nonesense as a scape goat to shift the blame on society as a whole and not on themselves.

Agreed

Just like fat people like myself suing mcdonalds cause they are fat ****s. like ronald mcdonald drove there car and made them go through the drive thru and order or something. dumm phucks

So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned - my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it.

Ok in a nutshell, here is the question. And please don't get into a discussion on the death penalty. I'm in favor of it, but it shouldn't enter the question I'm about to ask. If you know that 99 people are guilty and 1 is innocent but you don't know which one, should you condemn all 100 to death because at least in 99 cases justice will be served? The innocent guy, well, that's the breaks of the game. Same with beating up the drunk - if you were wrong in 1 out of 100 cases, is that ok?

Oh okay my daughters in the YARD, and this man driving leaves the ROAD comes over the CURB into the yard hits your daughter almost cuts foot off. HMM ...OK yeah his ass is getting fucked up. If he is that SICK on MEDICATIONS that impair his vision he doesnt need to be driving you think. It simply states on every medication bottle from any pharmacy this MEDICINE may cause impaired vision so there for you should- ---> N.O.T. <---- be driving-operating any machinery at all. Again if it was my child it would be ugly, if you want do that for your child then something is bad wrong. JMO
