I'm a Cub fan and it would kill me if they won it all. So I threw $20 on the Sox to jinx them. Colon was a good move. A better move would have been to get Vasquez since the AL hasen't faced him for an extended period.

Other Sox concerns: Their defense sucks, espically the left side of the infield. Frank Thomas is in a 2-year funk. They have no leadoff hitter. Last, the starting pitching 3-5 spots are unproven.

Sox just signed Flash Gordon.

Olivio is a good looking prospect - he may split time with Paul/Alomar to start the year. If Borchard a starter for sure this year? The guy is a stud, but i figured they still had Valentin, Ordonez and the mix of Willie Harris/Aaron Rowand in centerfield. Would think Rowand would start the year and Borchard coming up later.

With the addition of Loaiza to the rotation, you can forget about any titles...I'm serious.

His odds are slim of even making the roster. He was only invited to training camp.

Wasted money. If you have that much money to bet on the SOX, just send it to me. 45-1 to win the WS, please I would have given you 500-1 or more if you want it. Save your money.

Garland-
When Garland is on his game, his overpowering sinker produces plenty of ground balls and double plays. He showed improvement each of the past three seasons, but he often struggles with control and consistency. He finished strongly (3.31 ERA in his last 68 innings with a 1.24 WHIP), so there is hope he will step forward this season. (Scot Gregor/TSN)
Fantasy Spin: Garland is expected to be Chicago’s No. 3 starter; he’s a nice sleeper, particularly in AL-only leagues.

Wright-
Wright had a 5.72 ERA and a 1.480 WHIP in the first half (60-40 strikeout-walk ratio) of 2002. In the second half, his WHIP was 1.275, and he had a 76-31 strikeout-walk ratio in 95.2 innings. His second-half ERA was 4.61 -- which makes his overall stats look ugly -- but he pitched much better than his ERA indicates. Wright has tremendous stuff, a super curveball, and a fastball that hits 98 mph. With a bit of luck, he could be a major surprise. (Scot Gregor/TSN)
