The Boston Red Sox continue a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays tonight and we're forecasting this one to go Over the total.

Boston are 51-37 (.580) overall which places them second in the NL East behind perennial rivals the New York Yankees. The Over is 33-14 (.702) for the Red Sox on the road this season.

Derek Lowe tonight looks to extend the longest winning streak of his career. The 30 year-old former closer is 7-0 with a 3.34 ERA in his last 10 starts and overall this season is 10-3, 4.50 ERA. Left-handed batters are hitting .308 against him and that may cause some problems tonight. It's also worth noting his road ERA of 6.50 with the Over cashing in nine of his ten away starts. He is 1-1 with a 4.36 ERA in two starts against Toronto this year after going 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA against them in 2002.

The Blue Jays have lost eight of their last ten to fall seven games behind the Yankees at 48-42 (.533).

Kelvim Escobar (5-5, 4.31 ERA) starts for Toronto tonight and the right-hander has struggled recently going 0-2 with a 5.85 ERA. In his last appearance he allowed four runs and nine hits over 7 2/3 innings against the Orioles but didn't figure in the decision. Escobar is 4-5 lifetime against the Red Sox with a 5.81 ERA.

While these teams combined for just three runs in the series opener we believe that was an aberration and instead look at their previous numbers this season...19, 17, 15, 17, 11, 9, 10, 15, 15 and 12. Including last night's low total these teams are still averaging 13 runs per game when they match-up in 2003 and we look for a return to those numbers tonight.

Take the Over and enjoy the offensive fireworks.

Recommended Play: Over 10 -130

Good luck

Mike
