Randall Simon is in deep "doo doo"

from the looks of things - the only contact he has made recently. i also think someone is gonna getmajor league sued here - and hopefullt it is simon - who should be suspended for about 30 days - but since this is baseball and the union will appeal - will get about 2 days - at that even though what he did is about 10,000 times worse than sammy sosa and his corked bat:

Simon swings bat at 'Italian sausage'

MILWAUKEE -- Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Randall Simon was questioned by sheriff's officers after hitting one of the Milwaukee Brewers' racing sausages with a bat during Wednesday night's game.

Four people in sausage costumes race around the bases between the sixth and seventh innings at Brewers games as part of the entertainment for the fans.

Film of Wednesday night's race showed that when the group went past the Pirates dugout, Simon swung a bat at the Italian sausage character -- portrayed by a 20-year-old South Milwaukee woman -- causing her to fall to the ground. As she fell, a nearby sausage also went down.

"They were doing the sausage race. He hit her with the baseball bat,'' said Deputy Inspector Sherry Warichak of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, which provides security at Brewers games. "When he hit her, that other character fell.

"They both were treated at the scene for scraped knees, but at this point I don't think they have any other complaints,'' she said.

Warichak declined to release the names of the women, who were interviewed at the stadium.

Simon pinch hit in the seventh inning and grounded out.

Milwaukee won the game 2-1 in 12 innings.

What a scumbag MF. Fans gettin to have a little fun and this azzhole does this. Think what would happen if a fan popped simon with a bat.

I'm so tired of these albert belle moves by professional players. It's just sickening.

I hope the sheriff pursues this as the assault that took place.

He gently popped the bitch in the costume head and she feel and went boom, boom... He didn't mean any harm.. If he would have been trying to hurt her he would have really swung the stick.. I would have thought about tripping them damned sausages also had they ran in front of me...

I don`t think he really meant to do what he did...But a bat to the noggin doesn`t take much to hurt...

When I was watching the game, I assumed this was choreographed. Randall Simon is not a malicious man, I have really enjoyed him as a Pirate this year. He is a fun-loving, guy who seems to be a prankster too. What he is guilty of is being an absolute idiot. How he didn't realize this was a bad idea is beyond me. The Pirates have these Pieroge Races at PNC Park where the Pirate Parrot body slams Pieroges and all kinds of other choreographed stuff. Looks like Randall Simon wanted to spruce up these sausage races. I know his personality and he thought he was being funny - oops!

I was at that game last night, and I just happened to get up to get something to eat when the incident occurred. I remember hearing some kind of roar, and figured that it was a close finish.

It wasn't until the next inning that I was seeing the replay over and over. To me, it appeared that Simon did it as a joke. Each time that it was played, though, I would interpret it differently. It did look ugly seeing the runners in those top-heavy costumes going down, however, I don't think that Simon intended for it look ugly...he used misjudgement.

i think he took a swing at that sausage because it wasn't kosher. supposedly jason kendall overheard him say "get that pagan meat outta here!" as he swung the bat.
