5-1 on G.O.D.'s after the Royals destroyed the Rangers on Sunday night.

Angels -130 over Baltimore (8 units)

The Anaheim Angels come into the second half of the season on fire. The Angels enter the game vs Baltimore on a 5 game winning streak, after winning 2 out of 3 from Kansas City and sweeping the Twins. Tonight they send red hot Ramon Ortiz to the mound in search of his 12th win on the season. Ortiz is 11-6 with a 4.41 era on the season. An 11 win pitcher is a nice arm to have throwing for you any night but what makes Ortiz even more impressive for tonight is that he was just 4-5 on May 28th. Since then Ortiz has been one of the hottest pitchers in the American League (he already brought home 1 G.O.D.). He has gone 7-1 with a 3.35 era over his last 8 starts, including a 6 inning - no run - outing vs the Twins in his last start. He has allowed more than 4 runs just once in his last 11 starts. Besides Ortiz coming into this game on a tear, there are 2 other Angels, having MVP seasons, entering this game on fire as well. All-Star game MVP and HR Derby champ Garrett Anderson hopes to begin the 2nd half where he left off. Heading into the All-Star break Anderson was at the top of his game. He is batting .435 with 3 HR and 6 rbi's in the last 7 days. He carried that into the All-Star break and simply swept everyone off their feet with a terrific showing in both the HR Derby and the AS Game itself, going 3-4 with a HR winning the MVP award, finally making a name for himself in baseball. More fittingly, the hottest pitcher in all of baseball recorded the win in the All-Star Game. Brendan Donnelly has been untouchable all season for Anaheim. He has an 0.38 ERA on the season. That's not a typo...0.38! He has allowed 2 er's all year!!! No wonder the Angels have been a hot team of late. On the other side the Baltimore Orioles come into the second half on a 3 game losing streak. They send 2nd year pitcher, Rodrigo Lopez, to the mound tonight. After a great rookie campaign, Lopez started this year poorly and has dealed with a muscle injury. He has gone 2-2 with a 4.25 era in 6 starts since retruning in June. He has been pitching very well of late, allowing just 4 runs in his last 2 innings of work but tonight he has a very tough task at hand. The Orioles also come into this game in a bit of a hitting slump. They were shutout twice in Oakland in the A's sweep of Baltimore. Tonight the slump should continue against one of the hottest pitchers in the American League.
The forumula is there. Ortiz starts the game and gets some offensive support from Garret Anderson. Then, the untouchable Brendan Donnelly comes in and does what he has done all season. Finally, Troy Percival comes in and shuts the door. The Angels win their 6th straight and The Orioles woes continue.

Play on: Angels -130 (8 units)

Momentum definitely on Anaheim...it didn`t hurt with Garret Anderson`s show at the all star game either...This veteran team could be ready to make a serious move.

Nice write up MC,
you've sold me on the Angels play.
This is a prime example of how
these forums should work.

had a lean on angels as well, so in that matchup, id say you will do fine.. just a few things that kept it from being a play for me..

Horrible Anaheim baserunning in this game MC as i watched this..

Erstad gets picked off, Anderson on 3rd one out fly ball medium centerfield 7th inn., for some reason Anderson doesn`t test the mediocre arm where he would have walked in to tie it, then 9th inning DP, left field back to first to double up ...

Get em next time Capper!

Don't be too upset about this one. This is typical of a dog getting some rest and finding long-lost energy. I lost money on Boston and Oakland today. They both lost against teams that were terrible before the break.

I look at sports gambling as not being perfect game-by-game but being better than the odds in the long run. You're record is still excellent despite a bad game here or there.
