The surging Boston Red Sox go for their sixth straight win this afternoon when they play the second of a two game set against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

These teams combined for 14 runs last night and the Over is now 15-5-1 in the past 21 meetings...we see no reason why that trend will end today.

Boston are a dominant 33-14 at Fenway Park this season and their overall record of 60-40 (.600) places them second in the AL East, 2 1/2 games back from the New York Yankees. The Red Sox have outscored their opponents 45-21 during their winning run and Detroit manager Jim Trammel said Tuesday that he hasn't seen a better team all season. Boston lead the majors with a .296 batting average and are hitting a whopping .329 at home. They have had at least 10 hits in 62 of their 100 games this season.

Ramiro Mendoza has had three appearances in the starting rotation and last time out allowed four earned runs through 5 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays. Overall this season he has 31 appearances and is 3-3 with a 5.67 ERA.

The Devil Rays are just 35-64 (.353) overall including a dismal 13-33 on the road.

Victor Zambrano gets the call for the Devil Rays today and he is 6-5 with a 4.00 ERA this season. In his last appearance he allowed seven hits and four earned runs in five innings against the Rangers. His last road start was against the Mariners when he yielded five earned runs in eight innings of work. Don't expect his ERA to improve today against the offensively loaded Red Sox.

Amazingly Boston have scored 40 runs in their last four games so with any kind of contribution from the Devil Rays today we once again expect this total to go Over.

Recommended Play: Over 10.5 +100

Good luck
