Only 3 guys on the + side of things. That really surprises me. I'm down a bit for the year myself..just not a good year i guess. Still have time to turn it around..good luck the rest of the way boys.

BasesWiz, that is interesting that you point that out because I just went back a year ago and looked at how things were going then. A year ago things were going significantly better.

I can't understand why the disparity in the two years.

You kick out the two leaders in the challenge (me and dogball) and you lose alot. If you figure us in, things are a whole lot better.

Hector - At the end of last year there were exactly two winners. In basketball there was only one or two as well. This year is pretty common actually, lots of people out of the gate early. The fun part starts in the 2nd half, everyone is always up at the break. I'm trying to be positive for both years of the challenge but have a lot of work to do. It's not easy. Hopefully we will do better this year than only the two we had last year. Still a ways to go men so hang in there. Been a lot of fun around here lately....

last year was a record year for overall crappiness in mlb. 6 or 7 teams were hanging around at or under .400 all year and 4 teams finished the year under that mark. that was more than any year in at least the last 30. thus, faves were doing well almost all year, makes it a lot easier stay ahead picking faves when you have so many shitty teams losing that much. this year has been a bit more 'normal' whatever that is but still you needed only one team to fade that would have put you up well over 20 units to this point and more to come no doubt, of course that team is detroit, and if you had recognized early on that both chicago teams would be very much overrated you would have faded just those 3 teams for a net of nearly 40 units so far. no 'capping whatsoever, just fade det/chc/chw every game. to make the detroit fade even richer, you could have played against them on the runline as they have only 10 of their 74 losses have been by 1 run.

from here on? good question, both chicagos seem to fancy themselves contenders and they have in fact begun to turn their money burning ways a bit, whether that can last? dunno. certainly no reason to cross detroit off the fade list but who else? cleveland? +10 or so fading them so far, mets? rangers? any others?

would like to heara what teams others are looking at to tank the rest of the way.

im doing fine, im up a legit $4100 on the year,, starting with a 5k bankroll. this is just what trk's has in 2nd column, my plays are from 1-5 units, ive made only 33 (5) unit plays all year.. trk isnt even including 2 $500 winners that i posted on stanford in the cws.. 90% of my plays are for a mere $100.. i am having an outstanding year, especially since june 8th, look at the challenge on june 8th,, i believe 2head and a few others are having outstanding years.. Jake thats childish on your part and id cap against you anyday.. Not trying to start anything, just stating a fact and i would think trk can back these statements up..

Patrick, you may be correct that at year's end last year there were only 2 in the plus column. However, that is 2 out of 7 players being tracked. This year 23 are being tracked and most are doing poorly.

I also include as part of my assertion in regards to last year Super Scout, MFG and Dogball, all of whom had excellent baseball seasons.

Hector you have a point about the guys that weren't tracked last year, though not monitored some of them probably did win. One thing to keep in mind though is that last year when people quit TRK took them down from the challenge. We had lots of guys get in and when they started losing they quit participating, when they did TRK dropped them off the list. So that 7 capper stuff is not indicative of all who played. This year I think TRK just leaves them all up even if they quit playing. I would guess the number of players is about the same as last year, if anything we may have had more run in and out of the system last year. You can double check this with TRK but I am pretty sure this is correct.

Patrick, that is an interesting point about those being dropped. In fact, I think that some of the same types in the 23 should be dropped.

Of course, all of what I have said is simply my observations as an outsider. You have a lot more experience in handicapping than I. Thus I am sure that your comments about the way things go in handicapping have validity.

pat

this is a bad story.

no matter how much winners help.winners will win and losers will lose.

we can help winners win.

we can help losers not lose so much.

what else can we do???

good luck
