got a winner last night and looking for another one tonight with the braves, the braves have been pounding the ball lately, they are a really good home team sporting a 36-15 mark, vs the astros who own a losing road record, braves are also 28-12 at home vs. righties.. braves own the season series 3-0 and if you guys can remember back, they pretty much have owned the astros.. im referring to the playoff matchups against these 2.. we have ortiz, who sports a better record and almost equal era of oswalt. lifetime he is 4-1 with a 2.85 era against the astros. we like having the best team in baseball, with their best pitcher on the mound, at their home park, at such a nice price. if the braves fail to win this game, then i wont post on the mlb forum until thursdays games..

Good Luck. I played the Braves also.

Bigdan - I think the line is so low because of Oswalt, he is the ace of Houston's staff and gets lots of backing from bettors every time he pitches. We should know fairly early if his fastball has lost some velocity as has been reported. If he can't get hitters out with his high fastball, the Braves should get to him early and often. GL to all.

dan, i dont know -- they are giving oswalt a lot of respect here.. no way this one shouldnt be -1.40 at least.. they may be trapping us, i hope like heck they are not... and all of us here are on atlanta tonight,,, its my banishment play, its mike's play.. 2head likes them, patrick has them.. i hope this is one night, that almost all of us win...

wil, likes them also,,, boy -- we all like them... what he said about oswalt is true,, the braves bats are smoking,,,, however boys what we need -- is for ortiz to give us 8.. i would say 7, but with the braves bullpen, he needs to get us to smoltz.. dont fret if he gives up 1 or 2 early,, sometimes he does and then settles down and is rolling by the 4th.. he throws a lot of pitches and its usually a longer game (time wise).. but ortiz can be a horse.. lets hope we get the good ortiz tonight.. he has been hot, no reason that he shouldnt stay that way.... another good thing is that he didnt pitch in the wild series in montreal, braves had 65 hits and scored 42 runs in 4 games (and split them).. if you see ray king on the mound, say a prayer..

GOOD CALL SSI. The braves are 17-5 in Ortiz starts. Oswalt has a 6-5 record. The astros are 23-27 on the rooad, the braves are 29-18 at home. Ortiz is 11-2 at home this year. Ortiz is on fire winning 7 straight decisions.

correct the stros are 24-28 OTR also, my bad. The braves are 29-18 to the over at home i misread the stats. Ortiz has netted 7 of the 18 under BTW. So i guess that home record bodes even better for the Bravos. Meanwhile the Astros bats couldnt muster over 3 runs in any of the 3 games over last weekend (cruz and estes included).

Another reason the line is so low is because Houston hasn't scored more than 3 runs in their last 7 games. Even with another low output from the 'Stros I don't see how Oswalt can limit the Braves' bats to less than 9 runs unless the Braves have a really off night.

I would even suggest taking the over on this game.

I notice some people like the Braves on the Run Line, I personnaly do not. Why, because for one thing they are the home team which means if you do win you have to do it in 8 at bats vs. 9 for the Stros. 2nd the Braves bullpen might give up a critical run in the 7th or 8th before they can get to Smoltz. and 3rd. -115 thru -119 is cheap enough, looking for the plus money -1.5 runs is being greedy and not worth the chance of a one run game coming back to bite you in the ass. Another thing to look for tonight is O. Dotel, he has been less than stellar lately giving up 4 homers in his last 7.2 innings, very shaky. Also, Ensberg, Biggio, and to some extent Bagwell slumping. The Braves pen is scary, I agree with you 100% we need Ortiz to go deep, or a big offensive night from the Braves (very possible), I also hope Andrew Jones is back, sat out last night. Lineups just came up Jones playing, but no Vinny Castilla, DeRosa at third, not sure why. Ensberg sitting for Astros. Vinny could be key in Pinch hit role late.

IN a side not the ASTROS have gone 8 in a row under going into tonight and and 13 of 14. Meanwhile the braves are 9-1-1- over in their last 11. The braves will definitely put up a few tonight and I don't know if Houston can match their hitting.

Wil, you make good points on people being greedy with the RL and I am one of them. Perhaps I need to be more disciplined. However, the talent spread is too large on this one with the Braves knocking the ball around and Houston not. Besides, the difference between the moneyline and the runline is over 90 points. I guess that is why I chose it.

My respect to all those who choose the moneyline.

I really hope the Run Line gets there. Good Luck

SSI, Oswalt is not right, they yanked him after 2 innings, pretty much what I think we both suspected. Now we need Ortiz to pitch a nice strong 8 innings. 3 Double plays have really heurt the Braves so far.

russ is finding his nitch now,, i think guys like russ (big horses) should throw about an hour before the game starts, man he gets strong as we go along, and he homered as well, lets hope russ gets us to the 9th.. we also had a runner thrown out at the plate.. we need a few more runs..
