Joel Pineiro goes for his ninth straight win tonight when the surging Seattle Mariners continue their series against the Cleveland Indians.

Seattle has owned Cleveland this season going 6-1 against the Indians and outscoring them basically two to one (37 runs to 19)...we are going to recommend them as a strong play again tonight but this time will take them on the runs line.

The Mariners have won six of their last seven overall and are four games clear in the AL West at 69-43 (.616). They have been road warriors all season actually posting a better winning percentage (.641) on the road than at home (.593). While scoring just two runs last night Seattle did out-hit Cleveland 10-3. The Mariners offense has come to life recently scoring an average of 7 runs through their last seven games. Anything like that kind of offensive production tonight should be more than enough with Joel Pineiro on the mound.

Pineiro is 13-5 with a 3.03 ERA this season and goes for his ninth straight win tonight. He ranks third in the AL in batting average against (.223), fifth in ERA (3.03), sixth in winning percentage (.722), eighth in wins (13) and tenth in WHIP (1.19). Not surprisingly the Mariners are 15-7 this season when he starts. Pineiro has pitched at least six innings in each of his last ten starts and in eight of those has allowed two or less earned runs. In fact he has now pitched consecutive 20 innings without conceding an earned run.

The Indians are 15 1/2 games behind the Royals in the AL Central and tonight they look to avoid their sixth straight loss. They are just 45-67 (.402) overall this season having lost 16 of their last 20.

Tonight they start Jake Westbrook who is 4-6 with a 4.25 ERA this season. His 9-15 career record and 5.43 ERA compares less than favorably with Pineiro's lifetime 34-14 mark and 3.06 ERA. Westbrook has issued an embarrassing 16 walks to just 11 strike-out's since re-joining the starting rotation July 12 and Cleveland are just 4-9 this season when he starts. His record against the Mariners is also poor...in two career starts against Seattle he has pitched a total of just five innings while allowing a staggering 15 earned runs!!

The Mariners are a stellar 32-11 against the AL Central including 17-5 on the road. Meantime the Indians have struggled against the AL West going just 8-22.

Take the Mariners again tonight with confidence.

Recommended Play: Seattle Mariners -1.5 -135

Good luck
Mike

125-76 is not good when you only play chalk. why do you think he posts a record and not +/- units.
