Cincinnati Reds @ Houston Astros

It's Miller-time tonight and we're going to recommend the NL Central-leading Houston Astros on the run-line when they open a three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds.

Astros starter Wade Miller owns these Reds and probably can't wait for each series against them to come round. He is a perfect 6-0 lifetime against Cincinnati with an ERA of 3.54.

The Astros are 33-15 (+10.2 units) against the Reds the last three seasons including 17-7 (+5.1 units) at home and we're very confident of them continuing their series domination tonight.

Houston took two of three from the Cubs this week and last night pounded 16 hits which was just one short of their season-high. Overall this season they are 67-60 (.528) and lead the NL Central by 1 1/2 games. They have covered the -1.5 in four of their last six games (against the Cubs and Expos) and we expect them to do so again tonight against a team that struggles to score like the Reds.

Miller is 10-10 with a 4.43 ERA overall this season and has had terrific stuff recently going 5-1 in his last seven starts. He has allowed just one earned run in each of his last three outings and has 57 K's to just 22 BB's in his last ten starts. We often say that strange things can happen in Major League Baseball but it would be exceptionally surprising if the Reds could trouble Miller much tonight. Houston are 8-3 at home this season when he starts.

Cincinnati are 56-70 (.444) overall to be 10 1/2 games back from the Astros in the NL Central. Their 26-36 (.419) road record doesn't match up well against the Astros 38-24 (.613) home mark. Offensively the Reds are averaging just 2.5 runs per game in their last 10 outings and we expect them to struggle tonight against Miller.

Cincinnati counter with Seth Etherton who makes just his second start of the season tonight. In his first outing since 2000 he was reached for five earned runs in five innings against these Astros at home. With a 5.79 ERA in his 12 career starts it's clear that the Astros have the pitching edge tonight.

Houston are the better team, with better pitching, in better recent form....better take the run-line!

Recommended Play: Astros -1.5 -130

Good luck
