SO kerry wood pitched great. 7 innings 11 k's only 4 hits given up 0 runs etc etc.
We all know he can only pitch up to about 125 pitches (what he threw tonight for 7 inns.)
Knowing in all liklihood he will not complete a game, why not have a designated starter throw 2 inns and done, blow em away outta the shoot, then let kerry go through the 9th. Many pitchers don't allways tire out and actually get in a groove. It would at least be better than Alfonseca, Guthrie, Farnsworth, Remlinger, and Boroski all who pitched tonight.
Or let the first pitcher go till the he's pinch hit for, also adding another BAT to your line-up.
This pitcher knowing he would only go 2 or 3 innings would go all out like a reliever, making it extra hard on the opposition.
JUST A thought it can't be any worse than knowing your turning a good outting over to a bunch of stumble bums evry time.
