Those of you who have read my picks will know of my frustration of trends ending on the first game of a series. Let's take a look a couple games from Labor Day-

Atlanta scores 5-13-10 runs in their last 3 games. The Mets score 0-2-1 in their last 3 games, all losses. Maddux is pitching for Atlanta and has given up 1-2-1 earned runs in his last 3 outings.

-Mets win 3-2
----
The Brewers had won 9 out of their last 10. The Reds had lost 7 out of their last 8.

-Reds win 5-4
----
Lackey was 2-11 on the road for the Angels. Minnesota had won 5 out of their last 7. The Twins had won 5 out of the last 7 starts for Rogers.

-Angels win 10-2

Maybe I should start fading these trends in the first game of a series.

Nice write up. It seems that first game is a good time for a reversal when the team has been in transition. It definitely changes the complexion when teams get on that bird together and brag about their wins-they lose, or bitch about their losses-they win. All probably more times than not.
