How can you post plays the night before or even hours before the games are played? Do the starting lineups not matter at all? At this point in the season many rookies and callups are getting a chance to play and veterans are on the bench resting. example - no piazza today, no lofton, no Grudzielanek, no Damian Miller. Does this not matter to you guys?

Maybe I look too much at all the variables. But especially in day games I would think this matters.

Any comments?

If you can infer as to what the lineups will be then you can get a better line before the lineups are actually posted.

Also...lineups are very overated.

Last season the Yankees posted a lineup of Sojo, E.Wilson, Rivera, Thames, their back up catcher etc, and I put my money on the under and the other team, figuring this was an easy under and win but those scrubs knocked in 12 runs in a 12-3 win.

This season I bet on the a good team vs the Giants without Bonds, Aurilia, and Fonzi and the Giants won by a score of (I think) 9-6.

Dont put so much attention into the lineups!

When players are given a rest, it is not always bad - it is usually when they are facing a less than favorable pitcher.

For example, if the Red Sox were giving Nomar and Manny a day off against, say Orlando Hernandez, it might be because they both had not hit El Duque well and in their place we would have two lefties that hit RHP a little better.

The manager won't rest a guy against pitchers that a player hits well against - on the other hand, if there is a bench player that hits a pitcher well, the manager will find a way to put him in.
