MLB 9/23

Baltimore @ Boston

The Red Sox & Orioles will send two pitchers to the mound tonight that are currently in good form. The Orioles southpaw starter Dubose is 2-0 in his L3 starts with a 2.38 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. The under is 6-1 in Dubose L7 starts. The Bosox will counter with knuckle baller Tim Wakefield who is 2-1 in his L3 starts with a 2.01 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. The Orioles have seen the under appear in 6 of their L9 games, while Boston has gone under in 7 of their L9 overall.

Note:Both teams have been slumping offensively of late.

Take the under 9.5 -120

Tampa Bay @ Toronto

The Jays come into this game against the D’Rays having won 8 of the last 11 meetings. Today's starter for the Jays Towers is 7-1 on the season with a 4.61 ERA. Towers over his L3 appearances has looked very good going 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. The D’Rays counter with Zambrano who is 11-9 on the season with a 4.61 ERA. The Rays are 2-6 in Zambrano's L8 starts.the Rays are 3-9 L12 on the road while the Jays are 7-3 L10 at home. The Jays are still playing hard while the D’Rays have been asleep at the wheel for sometime now.

Take the Jays -140

Chicago Cubs @ Cincinnati Reds

The Cubs push for a post season appearance and will pull out all the stops to achieve this goal.Today's Cubs starter is the hard throwing K.Wood(13-11 3.31 ERA).The Cubs right-hander is currently in great form and is 2-0 in his L3 starts with 1.23 ERA. The Cubs won all three of those starts. Chicago are 8-3 in Woods L11 starts vs. the Reds. Strictly a momentum play as the Cubbies push hard.

Take the Cubs -1.5

Detroit Tigers @ KC Royals

The KC Royals enter this game having beaten the Tigers in 16 of the their L20 meetings. The Royals enter this game winning 8 of their L10 overall. The Royals will send more bad news the Tigers way today as they send pitcher Jose Lima(*8-1 3.90 ERA) to the mound today to face a less than stellar Tigers squad. KC is 10-2 when Lima takes to the hill. The Tigers will reply with Maroth who has horrific a 7-21 record and of late has been serving up batting practice pitches to his opponents record in 2003 and in his last three appearances has a 9.23 ERA giving up 22 hits over his L22 innings pitched. Note:Tigers have lost 118 games this season, and at home are 18-61 in 2003. Tigers betting backers(if they exist) have been rocked this season down over 52.51 units………Bottom line is the Tigers suck and anytime you get a chance to fade them at a reasonable price take it.

Take KC -1.5 runline

Pittsburgh @ NY Mets

The Mets come into this game in horrible shape having lost 16 of their L17 games overall. Two top quality pitchers will go to the mound today .The Pirates send K.Wells(9-8 3.38 ERA) to the hill to face the Mets ace lefthander Al Leiter( 13-9 4.19 ERA). Wells is in better form than the Mets Leiter of late going 2-1 in his L3 starts with a 1.25 ERA and 0.88 WHIP.Leiter is 0-2 in his L3 starts with a 5.30 ERA. Truth is the Mets have looked terrible of late and have all but given up on saving face with a respectable finish. The Pirates with a limited payroll and talent base continue to give 100% day and in day out.

Take the Pirates +117

MLB 9/23 FREEBIES

SAN FRANCISCO VS. HOUSTON 8:05 EST

The Giants did what they do best last night, and that is come from behind to win late in the game. That win pushed the Astro's into a first place tie with Chicago, and got them a game closer to Atlanta for the best record in the league. Now they're throwing their ace on the mound whose been downright nasty all season long. He's 9-4 with a stellar 2.41 ERA on the road this season, and he's looking to get his 17th win of the season. Wade Miller looks to have turned it around of late, but his 0-3 record with a 4.13 ERA vs. the Giants won't be good enough tonight. I feel that last night's loss will really effect Houston's play tonight. They're not in first place by themselves for the first time in months, and the Giants beat them last night by defeating one of their stronger links...the bullpen. Billy Wagner won't be the same after seeing those bombs fly, and Bonds was held in check last night. I expect him to get off tonight. Schmidt and the Giants will be tough to beat tonight, and Houston will find themselves in 2nd place when the clock strikes midnight.

RECOMMENDATION: GIANTS -110 (SCHMIDT)

SEATTLE VS. ANAHEIM 10:05 EST

The Mariners are playing for their playoff lives right now, and have strung together some solid wins of late. The Angels are looking to play spoiler tonight, but they just don't have the team to make much noise. Their line-up is full of September call ups, and they won't do much of anything vs. a locked in Freddy Garcia. The guys been unconscious of late going 1-1 with a 0.47 ERA his L/3 starts. He's 10-2 with a 2.46 ERA in his career vs. the Halos, & is 3-0 against them this year. This is a must have win for Seattle as they know Boston closes out the season with Baltimore and Tampa. They have to take care of their business, and hope that Boston slips up a few times in the next few days. I know it's highly unlikely that Boston completely screws this up, but I've seen crazier things happen. Seattle will do their part tonight, and for the rest of the season. This becomes an even bigger play if Boston loses before they start.

RECOMMENDATION: MARINERS -145 (GARCIA)
