It's obvious that there is a lot of value in playing certain pitcher match-ups to go under the total in these playoffs. Just look at the reaction of these ball players in the batters box when an umpire calls a strike the player thought should be called a ball. Guys, the umps will continue to call the high strike and those just off the corner.

Why is this?

My answer is because mostly they are really strikes but more importantly you have now older veteran umps who are not intimedated by the "Q" computerized strike zone. They could care less what the specks are for that system to judge a strike. They have been doing it their way for years and will not change.

So, now the players must adapt to how the ump is calling the game and not what they have been conditioned to using as a strike zone over the long season. The hitter is confused on this. Eveybody has tried to conform to this Q-tech system and now nobody knows what the strike zone is. I got news for ya,....the vetrean umps know, and they are the ones in charge during the playoffs.

So now we see a more true strike zone and not one that is the size of a cracker jack box. Great pitchers that know how to "pitch" and just not "throw" will have a huge advantage over those who just try to throw it 93+ miles an hour.

Most Major League hitters can hit a fastball anyway. Unless you really bring the gas you will have a hard time trying to just throw it by a hitter. Which brings me to my final point...if you swing the bats, the umps will never beat ya! Just some thoughts I wanted to share with you guys. Have great success in plays during the playoffs.
