I'm talking about the ridiculously long delay for the 7th inning stretch at Yankee Stadium. This has become completely unacceptable. There is supposed to be a time limit between innings from the last out of that half inning and when the first pitch is thrown for the next half inning and that is set by Major League Baseball and followed by all teams. Yes, all teams. Television and radio have to get their commercials and spots in and they work with MLB before each season so that a reasonable time is set for them to accomplish that.
I like the song "God Bless America" but this opera singer taking forever to sing that song along with all the pomp and circumstance that the Yankees feel compelled to go through has given the Yankees an unfair advantage because it takes the visiting pitcher out of his rhythem that he is used to by following the time limit between innings. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire brought this up and rightly so. Of course nothing came from it because Steve Palermo is too clueless to do his job which is to make sure provisions
put in by MLB to keep the game moving are followed.
The Yankees have scored 25 runs in six home games and 8 of those runs have come in the bottom of the 7th inning. Part of that is that they are a good team but I think a part of it is also the fact that the opposing pitcher has to wait far too long between innings.
