Shouldn't surprise anyone that the Yankees are back in the world series. Looks like the luxury tax doesn't mean diddly squat to Steinbrenner.

Here's next years line up.

1B Jason Giambi
2B Alfonso Soriano
SS Derek Jeter
3B Aaron Boone
CA Jorge Posada
OF Bernie Williams
OF Vladamir Guerrero
OF Richard Hidalgo
DH Matsui/Nick Johnson

SP Mussina
SP Javier Vazquez
SP Pettitte
SP Roy Halladay
SP Estaban Loaiza

RP Weaver
RP Contreras
RP Billy Wagner
RP Mariano Rivera

Vlad Guerrero is NOT going to be a Yankee next year. From what I hear his mother has a very big influence on where he's going to end up and she's prohibited him playing in certain cities, NY being one of them.

Go Marlins.

if weaver is on that team next year there is no way that you can call it "the best team money can buy". i'll take any of those gas cans in the cubs bullpen before giving the ball to that loser.

he lost me more money than anyone ever has.

Giambi is on the downhill of his career making prime dollars. Same with Jeter and Williams. Boone is vastly overrated, as is Soriano. Nick Johnson is solid, but Matsui is nothing special.

This is the swan song for the Yankees, particulary if they dump Torre and Cashman after the season. Dollars are nice to have, but it is a lot easier to overpay for talent when you have cheap young players. Yanks don't have that luxury anymore.

LOL....If you knew anything about the Yankees (must be a bitter Red Sox or Met fan) you would know that the Yankees signed Jon Leiber to a 4 year contract last offseason and he is penciled into the rotation for next year. So which one of the staters will they not trade/sign in the offseason....LOL. You bitter fans make me laugh....
I also see some genious said Matsui isnt anything special, just another guy who knows NOTHING about real basaeball.
If the Yankees had 9 players with his fundamentals they would win the WS EVERY year. You can take that piece of sh-t Giambi/Bernie/Soriano and Boone for nothing, give me 2 more Matsui's....He is the EXACT player that wins you games (see the '98 team-Tino/Oneill/Brosius/Knoblauch/Bernie/Jeter etc etc etc...)
