We're expecting a fascinating pitcher's duel as the Florida Marlins host the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the World Series.

Josh Beckett and Mike Mussina are a combined 24-11 Under this season in night starts and we're forecasting a low-scoring contest tonight.

23 year-old flame-thrower Josh Beckett has come of age in the postseason and should relish the big stage again tonight. He turned the Marlins Championship Series against the Cubs around with a complete game, two-hit shutout in Game 4. Beckett followed that stellar performance with four strong innings of relief in Game 7. Overall this season he is 10-9 with a 3.02 ERA. .

Veteran Mike Mussina will have taken a lot of confidence from his first ever relief appearance when he gave the Yankees three innings of shutout ball against the Red Sox in Game 7. He is 17-11 with a 3.51 ERA this season.

It's interesting to note that this line has dropped from 8 to 7 1/2 despite the fact that approximately 60% of the public have been betting the Over.

That was my first impression too. Then I saw that Gary Darling is behind the plate. 23-13 O/U, 10.58 runs/game. No record posted vs. these pitchers. Moose needs location more, but Yanks bats have awakened. Good luck with the under, but I'll pass.

This works well in a back and forth series. Leaning Fla tonight. Must win with their ace. Could be history if not, though their scrappiness and recent track record suggests otherwise. Rested Sandman has to be scary. 7 inning game. Fish must get to the Moose early. One thing about them, they don't have to be slugging to score, the way they can scratch out runs. If Yanks can chase Beckett the way they did the likes of Redman, Heiling, etc., I'll be impressed.

Darling widenened his strike zone for the occasion, especially with 2 strikes. Saw some upset batters punched out looking. Maybe he wanted to get in out of the rain.

As for me...

Btw, I was at Shea for the Met/Yankee Subway Series when Jeter homered to lead off the game. I was stunned by the roar and embarrassed that there were more Yankee fans than Met fans in the house. Wonder how Fish felt when they heard that same roar...

Good call on the Under. I had FLA +1.5 and also had some side action on the over and was punked on both plays but wanted to give props to someone that does some research on why they are picking a side or total.
