I agree with you on the fish - i'd feel better if it wasn't Penny going though! (but he is due for a good performance, he's got good stuff)

MC-

Some times it's easier to follow someone if they post all their picks in one thread.

Good luck!

Few reasons behind my play for game #1. (Not statistical)

1. Wells going against a predominantly right handed lineup. The Marlins have some strong right handed bats: Pudge, Lee, Cabrera, Lowell, Conine. If Pierre (lefty) and Castillo (switch)can set the table, the Marlins right handed bats will be in great shape.

2. Marlins are playing so loose now. Game 1 is the game they can steal away.

3. Yanks still basking in the relief of beating the Sox. In their minds, they have already won the W.S. by beating the Sox. Might set themselves up for a game 1 let down.

4. Speed and Defense.....Marlins have that covered better than anyone. Could help them win more than just game 1.

Just a few of MY own reasons.

I really think speed and defense have become underrated when compared to power. I believe those factors are in large-part a reason why the Marlins are in the Series.

BGO - I totally agree with you. Pierre and Castillo change games as well, if not more than, any slugger not named Bonds in the game.

They get on base and pitchers start to get rattled. Never fun to be a pitcher with Pierre on 3rd and Castillo on 1st with Pudge at the plate.

i was leaning the Fish's way - and knowing you are on them only pushes me on the "fer sure." i think they can/will split (at worst) in NYC - so why not take a chance here against wells.

I also like the Marlins here. Yankees are vets, but they have to think that after they disposed of the Red Sox (their record-setting 26th time they played them this year) that the Marlins will be easy. It's human nature. Give me those Marlins, who stared the Cubbies'aces and fans down and won't be intimidated by the Yanks.
