Washington (AP) - There's a new potential site for a ballpark in the District.
The Washington Post reports the new site is near the Southeast-Southwest Freeway. It was introduced to Major League Baseball Wednesday during a two-hour meeting with D.C. officials at the Wilson Building.
The chairman of the city's Sports and Entertainment Commission says the District is still trying to determine the cost of building the stadium. It would have a view of the waterfront beyond center field.
Other possible stadium sites are at New York and Florida avenues in Northeast and on the Southeast waterfront.
A new stadium would be built only if baseball officials relocate the Montreal Expos in 2005. The club would play in a refurbished RFK Stadium until a new ballpark is finished.
