MLB YTD: 18-15 (+5.63 units)

San Diego Padres (-101) over Atlanta Braves (4.04 units to win 4)

Padres are 13-7 against right-handed starters
Braves are 3-4 against left-handed starters

I'm not a big fan of Jaret Wright by any means. So I give the pitching edge to the Padres in this game. Left-hander David Wells will take the hill for San Diego in Wednesday's matchup. Wells earned his first win as a Padre in his last start, when he held the Expos to an unearned run. Outside of one horrible inning against the Dodgers, Wells has been effective, including seven shutout innings against the Giants in his first start.

The Padres have been hitting well on the road...scoring almost 6 runs per game and a batting avg of .290.

Baltimore Orioles (-105) over Chicago White Sox (4.20 units to win 4)

I'm picking my spot w/ Ponson here, although he has been extremely bad in his recent starts. Mark Buerhle has also been inconsistent in his first five starts. So I beleive the pitching matchup is a bit of a toss up. But I feel this is a spot where Ponson finally gets a solid start.

The White Sox have struggled on the road with their offense. They had Eric DuBose on the ropes early last night, but really couldnt knock him out. AN early home run by Ordonez, several walks, high pitch count, and a young pitcher..yet they only produced 3 runs. This could be a problem in tonight's matchup, especially with the abundance of righty hitters in the Sox lineup.

The White Sox only score 4.5 runs per game and hit .248 when playing on the road.

Philadelphia Phillies (-135) over St Louis Cards (2.70 units to win 2)

Kevin Millwood pitched pretty well in his no decision against the Cards last week. In fact, he hasn't lost since April 11. Millwood is 2-0 with a 3.15 ERA in his last three starts.

Even with a series' opener loss, the Phillies did show me some positives. On paper, having Abreu / Thome / Burrell as your 3-4-5 should be quite the offense, but they really havent. But last night they did hit Back-to-Back-to-Back home runs. Also, the Cards pen looked shaky again, Jason Isrinhausen will blow a few saves this season.
