Baseball chief operating officer Bob DuPuy says the sport's relocation committee plans to meet with commissioner Bud Selig within a month to present options.
The group met Wednesday to discuss possible locations for the team, including Monterrey, Mexico and San Juan, Puerto Rico. However, Washington D.C. and nearby northern Virginia appear to be the leading contenders.
DuPuy said that no areas have been eliminated and that the committee will not rank the cities for Selig. DuPuy hopes for a decision by the All-Star break in mid-July.
The Expos were bought by the other 29 Major League Baseball teams before the 2002 season amid slumping fan attendance and revenue shortfalls.
