Boston -Derek Lowe (5-5, 6.55)
Heading to the hill tonight for the Red Sox will be righthander Derek Lowe, who is 5-5 on the year with a 6.55 earned run average. The 30-year-old Michigan native picked up the win in his last start, as he allowed three runs - two earned - on three hits in five innings.
Lowe lost his only other start against the Dodgers.
The Dodgers will counter with lefthander Odalis Perez, who picked up his first win in seven starts in his last outing on Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In that outing the 26-year-old Dominican allowed three runs and eight hits over five innings to improve to 3-3 on the year.
Perez, who has pitched to a 3.20 ERA this season, lost his only other start against the Red Sox and allowed four runs and six hits in that effort.
Boston won its fourth game in five chances on Thursday as it topped San Diego 9-3 in the rubber match of their three-game interleague set.
Los Angeles, which is 3-3 so far on its nine-game road trip, owns a 16-14 record in foreign ballparks this season.
The Red Sox are 58-66 all-time in interleague play with LA posting a 61-52 all-time mark against the AL.
