Oakland (38 - 30) at Anaheim (38 - 31)
Tim Hudson (R) vs. Bartolo Colon (R)

With Tim Hudson on the mound tonight we'll recommend a play on Oakland to be leading Anaheim after five innings.

Hudson has allowed two or less earned runs and pitched at least seven innings in seven of his last eight starts. In fact in his last three starts he has given up only three runs in 23 1/3 innings. Overall this season he is 7-1 with a 2.78 ERA and with a little more offensive and/or bullpen support would be a lock to start the All-Star Game. He ranks first in the AL for innings pitched, second in ERA, sixth for winning percentage and eighth for WHIP.

Oakland is 16-5 in Hudson's last 21 starts vs. the Angels and while tempted to take them on the money line, instead we'll recommend a play on the A's for the first five innings. Oakland's pen blew three saves last week and four times this season Hudson has left with a lead only for his relievers to blow it.

Anaheim have lost five of Bartolo Colon's last six starts and overall this season he is just 4-6 with a ballooning 6.04 ERA. He has struggled with both his velocity and control and in stark contrast to Hudson, he has allowed three or more earned runs in 11 of his last 12 starts. Colon gave up three home runs in his last outing and has now allowed an AL-worst 21 long balls in 82 innings this season. Right-handers are batting .314 against him which compares less than favorably with righties .199 average against Hudson. Colon is 2-3 in his career against Oakland with an ERA of 5.02 and a WHIP of 1.558.

Recommended Play: Oakland -130 First 5 Innings

Good luck
