NY Mets +1.15 over PHILADELPHIA
Have to like the way the Mets are going about business these days and that’s the basis for this call. They’ve won 5 of six including a sweep of the Yanks and they are playing hard every night. It’ll be Steve Trachsel versus Brett Myers and we’re certainly not going with the worst of it. Trachsel has been much better at home, however, he’s still sporting a 3.49 ERA as opposed to Myers’ 5.28 ERA. Myers, over his past 3 games has allowed 22 hits and 18 earned runs for an ERA of 10.80 while Trachsel’s ERA over that same span is about 7 runs lower. Trachsel 3 hit the Yanks in 7 innings his last time out while Myers was knocked out in the third by the Orioles. The addition of Richard Hidalgo has really ignited this Mets offense and we see absolutely no reason not to come right back on them again tonight. Play NY Mets +1.15 (Risking 1.6 units).

Pittsburgh +1.20 over FLORIDA
As we mentioned yesterday, there are some pitchers in this league that are a must play with a tag on them and the Bucco’s have one of them going tonight. Lefty Oliver Perez will some day soon be known as one of the finest arms in baseball. All he’s done thus far is struck out 113 batters in 93 innings and allowed just 70 hits. He has a miniscule ERA of 1.77 over his last 3 starts after allowing just 10 hits in 20 innings. Dude is pitching as well, if not better then any chucker in the game. Carl Pavano will go tonight for the Fish after being named to an all-star for the first time in his career. His focus may be a bit off tonight but regardless of that, this pooch is live as hell. Pirates run of 10 in a row was no fluke. This is a young team loaded with potential and talent and no way are we laying off them with Oliver Perez going. Play Pittsburgh +1.20 (Risking 1.6 units).

Arizona +1.55 over LOS ANGELES
Kaz Ishii is showing severe signs of fatigue and that’s been his M.O since he made the move from Japan to the majors 3 years ago. He has started strong in each of the 3 years and by the all-star break, he’s labored big time. Looks like this year is no different. Here’s a guy who’s walked 59 and whiffed 43 and over his last 3 games he’s surrendered 20 hits while lasting a combined 14 innings. He’s also issued 9 free passes over that stretch while striking out just 4. His ERA over that stretch is an embarrassing 9.43. Ishii has good stuff, however, his propensity for falling behind in the count to just about every batter he faces is taking it’s toll and he has never responded well past the half way point. Price here will have influence on our choice and until this guy shows us that he can endure a long year, we’ll gladly take prices like this against him every time, regardless of the opposition. Play Arizona +1.55 (Risking 1.6 units).

Hi Brian: You didn't post any units yesterday, I know you bet 1.6 units, but others don't.

If we went to a default setting of 1 unit, it would be 1-3 -1.95 units. Just in case anyone is curious about the numbers. I like your Mets play.
