Detroit +1.40 over MINNESOTA

Sometimes just looking at stats doesn’t tell the whole story and that’s certainly the case with the Tigers Gary Knotts. It would be easy to look at his last 3 games and see an 8.35 ERA, or even his unimpressive 5.28 ERA on the year. What you wont see, however, is that Knotts, after his first 4 appearances this year had a 12.15 ERA. Since then, it’s come down almost 7 runs. Over his last 7 starts, he’s lasted into the seventh inning in 4 of those and with the exception of his last game, in that launching pad in Denver, he hasn’t allowed more then 4 runs in a game in his past 9 starts. In 7 of those 9, he allowed 3 earned runs or fewer. Then we have Carlos Silva, who has allowed 139 hits in 106 frames and does give up runs. He’s been tagged for 12 earned runs over his past 21 innings and guys like Silva are simply not worthy of this tag. Nice good value on the Tigers tonight. Play Detroit +1.40 (Risking 1.6 units).

Oakland +1.15 over CLEVELAND
We can excuse the A’s for dropping their past 3 games, after all, they were at Fenway and faced Martinez and Schilling in the past two games. They made a valiant effort last night to come back from a 7-1 to tie it at 7-7, only to lose in extra time. They’ll now face an Indians squad that is in a funk of their own after getting their asses handed to them by the Rangers in 3 out of 4 games. In the 3 losses, the Indians, as a team batted under .230. Kirk Sarloos will make just his second start of the year for the A’s and we like this youngster. He started 21 games for the Astros over the past two years and while his numbers aren’t great, we’ve seen him dazzle on a few occasions. He has major league stuff, make no mistake about that and against a young Indians team that’s struggling, it’s the perfect opportunity to step in. Jake Westbrook has been rock solid for the Tribe, however, this bullpen was used extensively in the 4 game set with the Rangers and the Tribe have lost 5 of 6. Additionally, Cleveland has lost 9 of their past 12 against right-handers and will face another one here. Play Oakland +1.15 (Risking 1.6 units).

Very bad beat. Saarloos was awesome. But A's had 8 different chances to pad the lead and got nothing, including chances with bases loaded and 2-on.

Then errors and WALKS WITH THE LEAD LATE IN THE GAME let Cleveland back in. How many fricken times can you blow a game like that???
