Pittsburgh Pirates (39-46) at Montreal Expos (30-56), 1:35 p.m. (San Juan)

Probable Starting Pitchers: Pittsburgh - Josh Fogg (6-6, 6.18) Montreal - Scott Downs (0-3, 7.94)
.

Montreal has registered a 7-13 mark in Puerto Rico this season, including taking two of the first three in this series. The Expos, who are currently on a 29-game stretch away from Olympic Stadium in Montreal, picked up a 4-0 win over Pittsburgh Saturday.

Montreal will send 28-year-old lefthander Scott Downs to the hill today. Downs has lost all three of his starts since being called up on June 24. However, it was hardly Downs' fault that he lost Tuesday to Atlanta, as he allowed just one unearned run through 6 1/3 innings in an eventual 1-0 loss. The southpaw gave up seven hits, while fanning four and walking three.

Downs has gone to the hill twice in his career against Pittsburgh, posting an 0-1 mark with a large 9.90 ERA. The hurler will be looking to become the first Expos southpaw starter to earn a win since Matt Blank defeated the New York Mets on June 21, 2001.

Surging righthander Josh Fogg will take the mound for the Pirates this afternoon. Since an 0-4 start to the season, Fogg has ripped off six wins in his last eight decisions. Fogg hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last three starts, including a no-decision against Florida last Tuesday. Fogg held the Marlins to eight hits and two runs over five innings, while fanning and walking two.

The Pirates are 8-4 versus the NL East this season, and 21-24 on the road this year. Pittsburgh is 3-3 so far in a stretch of 14 conseutive games against the NL East.
