_David Newhan, Orioles, had three hits, including a tiebreaking two-run triple in the seventh, in Baltimore's 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay.

INJURY WOES

Chicago pitcher Mark Prior left with discomfort in his right elbow in the second inning Thursday night in the Cubs' 4-1 victory over Milwaukee. After missing the first two months with right Achilles' tendinitis and a tender elbow, Prior was making just his eighth start of the season.

GOING DEEP

All five of New York's hits in the Yankees' 5-1 victory over Detroit on Thursday night were home runs. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time a team had at least five hits and all were home runs was June 24, 1989, when Cleveland hit six homers in a 7-3 win at Texas. Alex Rodriguez homered twice for the Yankees and Kenny Lofton, Derek Jeter and Hideki Matsui also connected.

WELCOME BACK

Playing in his first game in two months, Marcus Giles hit two doubles and drove in two runs, leading Atlanta to an 8-0 victory over the Expos on Thursday night. Giles broke his collarbone in a collision with center fielder Andruw Jones on May 15.

CAREER FIRST

Justin Leone hit his first major league home run to help Seattle snap a nine-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Cleveland on Thursday night. Leone hit 21 homers in 68 games for Triple-A Tacoma before being called up July 1.
