–Las Vegas Sports Consultants opened Houston as a $1.35 home ‘chalk’ over San Diego, with the total listed at 8 ½ ‘under’ (minus $1.20). This National League contest is set to begin at 8:05 p.m. ET.
–San Diego pitcher Jake Peavy (5-3, 2.43 ERA) was riding a personal three-game winning streak before his July 7 setback to Houston as a home ‘pick,’ 5-1. The 23-year-old surrendered four runs on seven hits (one home run) with four walks and two strikeouts over just four innings.
–The combined six runs went ‘under’ the seven-run closing total, ending three consecutive ‘over’ outings.
